Technology in EducatioN

My Story
When the virus began to spread swiftly in early 2020, schools around the world shut down, leaving millions of kids trapped at home, unclear how their education would continue. This was an uncertain and frustrating time for me. However, a
technical answer has emerged: online teaching through platforms such as Zoom. Prior to the pandemic, I had little experience with virtual education. However, as institutions transitioned to online programs, Zoom became the foundation of my education. My teachers switched their teachings to virtual classrooms,
and my classmates and I had to adjust quickly. At first, the transition felt abrupt - the lack of face-to-face interaction made it difficult to stay engaged and connected. The absence of physical presence induced a sensation of isolation that was difficult to overcome (Li, 2020).
However, things became even more problematic for me personally. I didn't have a laptop at the time, so I had to use an old family computer to attend classes. The computer was slow, making navigating Zoom sessions exceedingly frustrating (Tadesse & Muluye, 2020).
Furthermore, I had regular internet connection troubles. Sometime my Wi-Fi would go out during a lecture, causing me to miss important information or have to reconnect several times. Despite these hurdles, the switch to Zoom provided new opportunities.
I could attend classes from the comfort of my own home, and I observed several benefits: flexibility in learning, the option to review recorded sessions, and access to internet resources that made studying easier (Li, 2020).

Why It Was Significant
Adaptability: I needed to rapidly figure out how to use new technologies, navigate online classes, and manage my time in ways I hadn't done previously (Li, 2020).
Access to Resources: Zoom gave me access to digital study resources, taped lectures, and even virtual office hours with lecturers, which considerably improved my comprehension of tough subjects (Langford et al., 2020).
