Fluffy lived in a fine home near the beach. He enjoyed sniffing the salty air, and loved the sound of the waves crashing. He loved his life very much, and didn't want to leave his home on the beach. But what he hated was naps. When he was told to take a nap, he listened, but never got to sleep. He was never tired during the day.

       "Fluffy, it's time to take a nap!" said mother.

Yes, mommy. But I am not tired. 

     "But oh, how tired you will be before dinner! That is why you must take a nap." responded mother.

     "Mommy, I'm not tired. I do not sleep one bit lying in my room." Fluffy assured. 

     "I will make a deal with you. If you take a nap everyday, you will get warm milk and a biscuit covered in strawberry jelly every Saturday. 

"I like that idea, mommy!"

Fluffy pounced on the bed.

     "What story shall I read you?" asked mother.

     "How about the story of "Mary the Human Girl?" asked Fluffy.

     "Ahh, that is a good one. Did you know that a cat lived with this girl, and he wrote about her?" Mother questioned.

     "No mommy. That is amazing!" said Fluffy. Mother grabbed the book and began to read.

"Chapter 1: The hidden pond. Mary was a kind girl who loved to read and explore. I am a lucky cat, for I live with her. She is very kind. My name is Freddy Gato. That's right! I'm a Spanish cat. My father and mother are Spanish, too. You see, me and Mary live in a South American rainforest. One day, Mary and I went exploring. We had been making a map of the forest for a long time, now. We past Berry-Bush Cove, and St. Freddy Creek! But we stumbled upon a pond. It was little.

Its water flowed from St. Freddy Creek.

    "Let's name this spot Friendship Pond." said Mary. I then caught a glimpse of another creek flowing from Friendship Pond. I meowed.

   "Oh! Good job, Freddy! Let's call that Mary Creek, for both of our creeks come together to Friendship Pond." said Mary. Mary drew the new pond and creek on the map. And so, this would now and forever be known as Friendship Pond."
