Ceneviz Castle, locally known as Ceneviz Kalesi or Akçakoca Kalesi, lies next to the town of Akçakoca, in the province of Düzce in Turkey.
Nothing is known about the history of this castle. Like its name 'Ceneviz' suggests (Ceneviz=Genoese in Turkish), it is thought to have been built by the Genoese. They had set up a string of trade posts along the Black Sea coast between the 11th and 15th century and the building techniques used in this castle resemble other Genoese castles.
Other sources however state that Ceneviz Castle was built by the Latin Empire between 1204 and 1261 after they had conquered Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade

The waterfall is located in Samandere village of Beyköy district, 24 km (15 mi) southeast of Düzce. It is 15 km (9.3 mi) far from Beyköy, 26 km (16 mi) from the state highway D.100 and 20 km (12 mi) from the motorway O.4. The road to the waterfall on a length of 15 km (9.3 mi) was widened and asphalted for easy access in 2015.
In 2016, the municipality of Düzce launched free-of-charge transportation by bus to the waterfall from the city center on daily basis during the summer months.
