As Emmy sat in her bed he wondered why she had this odd feeling stirring in her belly. Why did it feel like she was sad, and what could she do to fix it?
She pushed the feeling aside as she heard her mom call from downstairs. It was time to get ready for school! She leaped down the stairs, grabbed her pretty pink backpack, and headed out the door.
While they were on the way to school she looked out the window and noticed an unfamiliar man smiling and waving at her mother, then she drove forward. Emmy looked closely and she saw a little light next to the man smiling back at her.

What was that? Emmy thought. Why did it look so inviting? All she knew was that she wanted to know more about this light and why it showed up next to someone that she didn't know.
She put the thought to rest and then continued to look out the window. The next thing she knew there was a crossing guard helping the young children cross the road in front of them. And there it was the light was back and right in front of the smiling crossing guard.

Emmy was stumped again, all that she knew so far was that she wanted to know more about this light be she didn't know how to.
When she looked back out the window she saw a man and a woman standing in the doorway and the man was holding the door for her. And there it was the light, tucked right in between them.

Now she was starting to catch on, the light seems to only be where people are happy, but what does that mean?
Emmy once again went on with her day, until she noticed that she didn't have a pencil and the test was about to start. So she looked around the room frantically and the next thing she knew Henery was there with a pencil and ready to help. “Here, borrow mine!” he said. “Thank you!” she replied.

Henry had saved Emmy’s day and the best part was that he didn’t have to, but he did anyway. Emmy became more and more intrigued by this feeling.
Now it was lunchtime, which is her favorite part of the day. But today she wasn’t so excited because when she walked into the cafeteria she looked around and saw that there was no seat for her. Immediately she started to tear but until she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Sarah, she was offering Emmy a seat right next to her and the smile returned to her face.

Well now this feeling had made her stop crying so, what is it, she thought.
When Emmy returned to class after lunch she started to feel a little insecure about her outfit because some of the other girls had made some rude comments. But before she got completely swept up in that feeling Henry walked past and said “I like your shirt, it’s really cool.” These simple words put Emmy at ease and she continued on with a newfound confidence.
