Hands on learning is when students are able to do an activity that corresponds with what they learning to gain a better understanding of the lesson. This is great for the students who learn best by doing and are kinesthetic learners. Engaging with the lesson allows for the students to be more involved in the lesson and is an opportunity to be active.

When learning about the different exercises and the human anatomy, the kids could practice the exercises and test their knowledge by creating their own workout of the different types of exercises they know. For learning the different types of muscles the students could create a dance where they point to the different muscles and name them.






Music and Songs

Music and songs in the classroom can play a huge part in keeping students engaged and creating lessons that are fun. There are many different ways music and songs can be incorporated into any type of lesson. Music helps to promote the well-being of the students, improve memory retention, and creates collaboration for students.

Music and songs can be incorporated into physical education by doing a just dance activity, following warm-up stretching songs, playing games with music in the background, having students create a dance to a song, or playing musical chairs.




Guest Speaker

Guest speakers increases learning in the classroom for students and give the students a chance to hear a different voice from another individual. Guest speakers are someone who is usually in the profession of what the students will be learning about. Guest speakers can be a firefighter, police officer, nurse, dentist, vet, etc.
Guest Speaker in Physical Education!
A guest speaker in physical education could be a fitness trainer and the speaker could talk about the importance of physical activity. A nutritionist could be another guest speaker and they could speak about how to live a healthy life.




Peer Teaching/Collaboration

Peer teaching and collaboration is a stragety to us in the classroom that allows for the students to share their knowledge about a subject to the other students. This helps the students to be engaged in the lesson by collaborating with the other students and getting a chance to share what they know.
Peer Teaching/Collaboration in Physical Education!
Peer teaching and collaboration in physical education could look like having half of the students split up into groups and each come up with their own station, while the other half of the students with get to go to each station and learn about the students station or play the game that they create for the students.
Direct Instruction

Direct instruction in the classroom is when the teacher instructs in front of the class teaching a lesson.
