Talia Ambrosios is a young girl living in Greece. Her family worshiped the Greek gods. She had personal favorite goddesses. Nike and Tyche were the goddesses of victory and luck. Talia wished she had the locket that Tyche wore to give good luck to mortals. One day, walking home, she tripped on a bronze rock. Then she got a good look at it. It was Tyche’s locket! She picked it up and trembled with joy. Then another thing fell. It was Nike’s victory shoes. It gave victory to anybody who wore it. She skipped home, not thinking about the consequences of taking the goddesses ’ items.
“It would be best if you put that back where you found it. Or the altars. You could be blasted into pieces. Or made immortal to suffer undying pain.” said an
unrecognizable voice. It was a nymph! “My name is Calidanea. You are wearing the locket of luck and the shoes of victory. They belong to the goddesses Nike and Tyche.” she said. “Who cares? I am Talia, the
goddess of victory and luck. Nike and Tyche can go to Tartarus.” Talia said. Kids, don’t say what Talia said unless you want to suffer the consequences above. Nike and Tyche heard Talia and were infuriated. How dare a puny mortal take their symbols of power! Tyche went up to Mount Olympus and whined to Zeus about Talia who sent a storm above Mani, Talia’s home. But with the locket of lock, the storm blew away. Tyche was furious.
Tyche was so furious that she stole a thunderbolt from Zeus to take care of Talia herself. Tyche disguised herself as a young homeless girl. She walked to Talia’s house and knocked on the door. Talia herself answered the door. She looked at Tyche’s disguise and quickly opened the door. “Come in, come in! You must be so tired and hungry. My name is Talia Ambrosios. What is your name?” asked Talia. “My name is Iris,” said Tyche. “Iris, would you like some luck?” asked Talia. “Does it cost anything? I do not have any money,” said Tyche. “No. But I have thousands of drachmas to share,” said Talia. Tyche felt ashamed. She came down here to destroy the girl, but she learned that Talia was using the locket for good. Tyche’s disguise burned away.
“Tyche!” Talia fell to her knees and wept for mercy. “My dear Talia, I came from Mount Olympus to destroy you. But now I know you have been using the locket for good. I will not blast you to pieces.” said Tyche. “Now, all you have to do is deal with Nike,” said Tyche. “Oh no!” exclaimed Talia. Nike burst into the room and said, “WHO STOLE THE SHOES OF VICTORY?!”
