Early Life
She was born in Heiburger, Alambama on April 27th of 1927. King was born in the segregated south, meaning she grew up surrounded and experiencing racism throughout her life.
She spent her childhood on a nearby farm after some time of the civil war.Coretta went to school as a young african american, while often experiencing african americans being underfunded and lacked essential resources compared to those for white students. Her school life as a youngin was challenging as african american students like her had to experience segregated education consisting of obstacles like attending classes that were overcrowded, and even recieving hand me down school supplies.
Despite the obstacles, her parents encouraged her to keep going and understood the value of her education. She was persevering through challenges and obstacles and managed to excel academically.
Though she experienced racism and segregated schools, this helped her grow up to advocate for civil rights.

She married Martin luther king as they both share major commitment and interests in the civil rights movement. Coretta, most known for being Martin luther King Jr.'s wife, fought for Equal rights(especially women's rights), LGBTQ+ rights, and global peace.


She advocated to equal rights alongside her husband during the famous non-violent protests and speeches. She raised awareness to what women and LGBTQ+ people experience and advocated for them. She was also included in investing in education, healthcare, and ecomonic development as she advocated for global peace.
