This is Carly. She has almost everything and anything you could ask for. She's always in the best clothes, has the best shoes, the newest technology, and has a huge house. She always makes sure to let others know just how rich she is by bragging or showing off and if someone was less fortunate than her, she'd make fun of them. She'd even laugh at her friends for not having the same amount of things as her.

Because of her personality, she didn't have many friends. Everyone always tried to correct her behavior and warn her that people won't want to be friends with someone who treats them badly, but she never cared because she still had a few friends who stuck around. At least she used to. Recently, her friends got tired of this treatment and left her. She tried not to show it, but deep down, it made her sad. She wanted her friends back but didn't know where to start.

A couple of days go by and all she has been thinking about is what she can do to make up with her friends. Maybe she could bake them something, or make them a card, or buy them a nice gift. She wasn't sure what she was going to do but she knew she had to do something.

That same day, Carly got bored so she decided to read a magazine. While she was reading, she came across a story on religion. She never gave it much thought, but after reading some more she realized she wanted to learn more about it. So, she went to her personal library and found a book that talked about all religions. She quickly sat down and got to reading.
During her reading, she came across a chapter about Christianity. It went over who God is, who his son named Jesus is, the Christian holidays, and God's laws or rules, which are also known as the Ten Commandments("The Laws and Commandments of God"). One of these laws was to not put anyone or anything above God. Meaning that he should be the most important to you rather than an object or other person(Bibleinfo). After reading, Carly realized that she had been putting many of the wrong things first and allowed her greed to distract her from what really mattered("Putting God First in your Priorities").

Carly came across a chapter about Confucianism as she kept reading. She learned about one of the many rules Confucius had, which was to treat others as you would like to be treated. You can't be upset when someone you were rude to does the same back to you and by practicing this rule, your relationship with other people will improve(Shatz). The rule was so spot on it made Carly feel called out or as if someone had yelled at her. She felt angry and embarrassed at first, but then she took a moment to think about the words. She realized that she had not been using that rule and if someone were to treat her the way she's been treating her friends, she'd be sad. These are all things that go against what Confucius tries to teach and Carly understood she had to change her ways(National Geographic Society).
