                 Story 1: The Dragon

     A long time ago in Germany lived a 

princess named Muglewamp and her brother 

Ferdinand. Muglewamp and Ferdinand were 

special in so many ways one of which was 

they, unlike other little boys and girls were 

born into royalty. They lived in a beautiful 

palace made of stone with flowers blooming 

on the outside walls. Of course being a 

princess and prince does have its downsides. 

First off they have to have a guard to protect 

them at all times which can be very tedious. 

Another is they always have to put on this 

happy face for the villagers when really may 

feel not that happy. Muglewamp and Ferdinand 

though are still kids, loving to hide from their 

guard and run off to explore. 

     One day, a beautiful one, Muglewamp was 

outside playing hide and seek with Ferdinand 

when see stumbled upon a giant rock hidden 

by ivory. "Hey!" She called to Ferdinand. “I 

found something. Do you think there’s a 

hidden entrance?" Like any other little boy and 

girl they always imagined they could be 

anything. They could leave behind their royal 

life and become super heros, or professional 

athletes, or invent something new. It was their 

hidden dream. She and Ferdinand raced up the 

rocky path to the strange quarry they found. 

     They felt around and sure enough found a 

secret entrance. Inside the two children snuck 

inside the cavern amazed at what they saw. 

On the walls hung beautiful gems of all 

different colors. To two imaginative kids it was 

a once in a lifetime sight. Deeper in they 

ventured until there were no more jewels in 

sight. Ferdinand, two years younger and dark 

haired, began to get nervous. It was quite dark 

and for an eight year old he was not all that 

sure of what they may find in the cave. 

“Muglewamp this is pretty scary. We have seen 

what’s in this cave so can we go now?”  

Muglewamp wanting to keep exploring ran 

ahead. “Muglewamp! Muglewamp! Come 

back!” Suddenly the young prince was all alone 

and not knowing what else to do he broke 

down in tears. The silence didn’t last long 

though for within a few minutes he heard a 

high pitched scream. “Where are you?” He 

looked around desperately. 

     Suddenly he heard the faintest sound. “I’m 

in here.” He rushed over to a big opening in 

the cave where the voice came from. Inside he 

saw his sister with her long dark brown hair 

hanging down and laying in front of her was a 

sleeping giant dragon. Ferdinand had only just 

begun to let out the tiniest of a scream when 

the dragon’s eyes opened. 

     The big dragon opened his dark red wings, 

“I smell human. Who dares come into my 

cave?” The creature could make out the 

children just in the dim light of the cave which 

had been illuminated by his fiery mouth. “Why 

are you children here?”

     Muglewamp bravely spoke up, “We are the 

princess and prince who live just down this 

hill.”

     However Ferdinand not as brave cried out, 

“Please don’t eat us!”

     The dragon looked down at the petrified 

children. He thought for what felt like hours 

though it really was only minutes. “All right,” 

he said, “But you must answer my few 

questions.” Muglewamp and Ferdinand, though 

scared, nodded. The dragon then asked, 

“What are your names?”

     Muglewamp spoke up, “My name is 

Muglewamp and this is my brother Ferdinand.”

     The dragon gave a sheepish grin and 

replied, “My name is dragon Bill and I’ve 

always wanted a friend. I never intended to 

hurt anyone but just wanted to make sure you 

would not try to hurt me. It seems you are not 

and so I would be so happy if you would 

become my first real friends.

     Pity tugged at Muglewamps heart. “Alright. 

We have few friends as well so we would love 

too be one to you.” Ferdinand of course wasn’t 

as sure but gave the best encouraging smile 

he could. 

     Dragon Bill was ecstatic, “Oh that means so 

much to me! I can’t wait to see you both 

again!”

     That night Muglewamp lay in bed 

wondering if she really trusted this dragon and 

if she should go back. Then something nudged 

her for she had been taught to never break a 

promise so then decided she would not break 

this one.

            Story 2: The Hidden Room

Muglwamp ran the two miles up to Dragon 

Bill's lair. She was exhausted but two excited 

to even think. Today, Dragon Bill had promised 

to show Muglwamp a secret hidden deep in his 

cave. She burst into the great hall crying, 

"Dragon Bill, Dragon Bill. I'm here." The big 

Dragon smiled showing his yellow-whitish 

teeth. "Now Muglwamp are you ready to see 

my secret." Dragon Bill asked. "Of course I 

am." "Then follow me." Muglwamp followed 

the Dragon down a series of passage  

ways. Soon they reached a staircase leading 

down into a dark abyss. Dragon Bill seemed 

to be gliding down the staircase however, 

Muglwamp had to run to just keep up with 

him. Finally they reached a metal door with 

two long tubes on it. "Oh no how do we get 

in?" Cryed Muglwamp. "The secret is fire. Now 

stand back." O most as soon as he had said 

these words a breath of deathly fire filled the 

room. When Muglwamp opened her eyes she 

was standing in a garden. It was beautiful. 

There was the most magnificent waterfall and 

roses and animals playing around. "This is 

amazing!" Cryed Muglwamp. Muglwamp then 

ran into the garden playing with the animals 

and splashing in the lake. When all of a 

sudden she noticed a dark cave with trees that 

were so thick if you hid behind them you 

wouldn't be found for days. "What is that?" 

Muglwamp questioned the dragon. "That is the 

home of the Dark Dragon. You must never go 

there." Dragon Bill answered her question. 

"What is the Dark Dragon like? Who is he?" 

"The Dark Dragon has lived here for hundreds 

of hears. He o most never comes out of his 

Den but when he does it's terrifying. Ashes 

begin to fall from the sky and the earth begins 

to shake." "That sounds terrible." Fear showed 

on Muglwamp's face. All of a sudden 

there was a terrible screeching in the sky and 

ashes began to fall and the earth began to 

shake. With a tremendous flapping of wings a 

gigantic black creature landed on a big rock. 

Dragon Bill glared at the Dark Dragon. 

However, Dragon Bill knew of the danger so 

quickly tryed to usher Muglwamp out of the 

secret garden. "Where are you going?" Smiled 

the mischievous Dragon. He then began to 

chase them all-around the garden. Finally 

Muglwamp was able to hide behind a large oak 

tree with Dragon Bill. "Listen." He 

prompted Muglwamp. "You are going to make 

a run for the door and then take the bowl next 

to it and fill it with a pitcher of water and lastly 

pour it into the bronze tubes. If all works the 

special water should mix with the fire inside 

and explode." Muglwamp gasped, "You mean 

the garden will explode?" "Not exactly. The 

explosion will make the door lock forever but 

the garden will stay safe." "I can't do that. I 

can't let you be tortured by the Dark Dragon. 

You have to run with me." Dragon Bill sighed, 

"Alright but let's make this fast." They each 

took a deep breath and  

then took off running. "There you are." The 

Dark Dragon screeched. He began to chase 

them again. But Dragon Bill and Muglwamp 

were to fast. Before the Dark Dragon could 

reach out his claws to grab hold of them they 

had reached the door. Quickly, Muglwamp got 

the magic water and poured it into the tubes. 

"Good bye beautiful garden." A tear feel down 

Muglwamp's cheek. "Quickly, Muglwamp we 

must hurry in a few seconds the explosion will 

happen." They ran up the stairs and then 

waited. And then it happened. A huge boom 

sounded through out the cave. And Muglwamp 

knew the door was now locked. Dragon Bill 

sighed and then said, "Muglwamp, I know you 

liked the garden but now we are safe." He 

smiled and Muglwamp smiled.   "I better get 

back home. Bye Dragon Bill." Then with a hop 

and a skip she was heading down the rocky 

path. And with all the thoughts about the 

secret garden. She could o most see the 

butterflies dancing and   waterfall singing and 

birds chirping, "Thank you, for the Dragon is 

gone. Thank you." 

understand it myself." Ferdinand put in. "Oh," 

Dragon Bill sighed, "I wish I could go to school 

with you guys." "I know," the young princess 

replied, "But if you showed yourself you could 

be caught and hurt." She sighed and then said, 

"but maybe when we come back from school 

we can teasch you what we learned that day." 

So for Dragon Bill learning school when 

Muglwamp and Ferdinand came home was 

never an issue for a while. And though it 

seemed to not be brought up again Dragon Bill 

wished he could go to actual school. Till one 

day he couldn't wait any 

more. While the kids were getting ready for 

school, Dragon Bill was preparing to secretly 

follow them. When he finally saw them emerge 

from the castle he took flight. A few minutes 

later he sore into sight of a small white school 

house. As he swooped lower he made sure to 

stay in the cover of trees. Minutes ticked away 

until he heard a voice inside say, "Alright class. 

Attention please." Dragon Bill listened through 

out the day very interested but towards the 

end he was preparing to set off when a twig 

snapped somewhere behind him. The dragon 

slowly turned his head to come face to face 

with a

little boy. The boy let out a scream and Dragon 

Bill quickly flew away. When Muglwamp and 

Ferdinand returned they gave him a lecture on 

going to school. They had easily figured out it 

was Dragon Bill who had frightened the little 

boy. Dragon Bill then promised not to return 

but learn from Muglwamp and Ferdinand. Then 

dragon Bill became the smartest dragon every 

known in Germany.
