One day, Henry the bear was walking back to his den with a big salmon in his mouth and a triumphant look on his face. When he reached his den he started eating his salmon and once he finished his victory meal Henry went outside, stretched himself out and then took a nap with the sun shining on his coat. Suddenly, he was woken by a loud cheer, “What was that?” he asked himself.
“I should probably check it out.” Henry said before getting onto his feet and walking toward where he heard the noise.

He kept hearing the noise until he reached a campsite. There he saw a man chopping a tree and another man splitting logs on a tree trunk. Quickly Henry dove behind a bush and then peeked at the two men again,“I wonder what they're doing? Henry questioned, “Hey Jimmy, did you hear something?” One of the men asked, “Yeah, I heard something like a bear or maybe a moose.” Jimmy replied.

“Now, we should get to work because this forest isn’t going to chop itself down!” Jimmy said, “And also, Sam we have to work fast, because you never know when lumber becomes cheaper than it is now, so we have to sell this lumber as soon as possible or else we might not make it rich.”
“Oh yeah, you're right.” Sam said.

After hearing Jimmy and Sam’s plan to chop down the forest Henry started hatching a plan of his own. He worked through the night thinking of ways to scare the two men away, “Aha! I have an idea!” Henry said as he trotted out of his cave to gather the supplies that he would need for his plan.
First, he went to a bee’s nest to collect some honey, “Stop or we will sting you!” the bees hissed, “I am using this honey to drive the men that are destroying the forest out of here.” Henry told them.
Henry told the bees the whole story of how the men wanted to get rich off of the forest's lumber and what he had heard and even the plan he had thought of. In the end, the bees let Henry take some honey and so Henry went to his next destination, getting help from Michael the crow.

Before Henry went to seek out help from Michael he went to the river to catch fish, “I should catch some salmon for Michael too.” Henry thought.
When Henry was done catching the fish he ate his salmon and then saved the rest of the salmon for Michael. It took Henry an hour to reach Michael’s nest and then called out to him, “Michael, I’ve brought you some fish and I hope that I can tell you what’s been happening to the forest.” Henry said as Michael swooped down and sat next to him.
