When I was growing up I always wanted a little brother. I was the baby of our family. I had a older brother named Carlos and a sister named Adriana. They were much older than me so I was always playing alone. So I longed for someone to play with.

One day my mom told me we were going to my Aunt Irma's house, and that my cousin had a surprise to tell all of us. I was excited and wondered what it could be. I was very excited, I loved surprises.

When we got there all of my aunts and uncles and cousins were there too. We ate lot's of yummy food and patiently waited for our cousin Rosa. We were all so excited to hear the news.
When my cousin Rosa finally arrived we all gathered around the living room, and she told us she was pregnant and was going to have a baby boy. We all jumped with joy and my heart felt so full. I was going to have a friend to play with forever. I had such a strong feeling of excitement come over me.

As time went on, her belly began to pop out. One day Rosa asked me if I wanted to feel her belly and when I did he kicked for me. I knew he felt me and knew I loved him so much already. I told her he was my little angel. She smiled gently. She told me he was the size of a mango. I was excited to know how big he was getting. I also loved mangos.

We celebrated him and Rosa with a beautiful baby shower. We played lot's of games and ate lots of delicious food all made by my family. My favorite was the cake it was white with baby blue in the inside. I thought to myself my little angel is so loved. I was so happy to see everyone so excited.

It wasn't long after we got the news that my cousin Rosa was going into labor. I felt like I had butterflies in my tummy from so much excitement. I was nervous to meet my little cousin.
When we arrived at the hospital all of my family was eagerly awaiting his arrival. Hours later my aunt came out and said that my cousin Rosa and the baby had some complications. I didn't understand exactly what that meant. I felt sad and scared. I just knew everyone became very quite and sadness came over the room and my mom brother and sister looked worried. My Aunt finally told us his name was Angel. I thought to myself. That is why she smiled when I first called him Angel.
Later that night when we got home I asked my mom what had happened. She explained to me that the baby would be staying in the NICU for a little while and the amazing doctors and nurses would watch over him and make him strong enough to come home to see all of us. I remember from that day we prayed every night for Angel and Rosa. I remember praying so hard one night and asking my mom what his little face looked like. I told my mom probably just like a Angel. My mom hugged me tight and said yes mija, your exactly right.

Two weeks went by and I remember having a feeling he would be home soon. We got the call later that day that he would be coming home in a few days. We all were so excited when we got the news. My family came together and wanted to welcome the baby with a small get together. We quickly began to get things ready for their arrival. We set the house up and made lots of food. I thought to myself how loved our little Angel was.
