The creation story:
Genesis 1:3 Then God said, "Let's make man in our image after our likeness and let have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing on the Earth"
In this passage God says lets make men in our image. That is because God is three unique beings. There is God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Together they make one perfect God. All three parts of God are talked about during creation. The Father spoke the Universe into existence. Genesis 1:2 The Holy spirit was hovering over the waters" Jesus or God the Son is mentioned as the word in creation John 1:1 "In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God."
The fall mankind:
God gave Adam and Eve one rule and that rule was not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:16-17)And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan to eat the fruit from this tree and they fell into this temptation. When they ate the fruit their eyes were open to what was evil and sin entered the world.
The promise of a Savior:
God made a promise to Adam and Eve that their offspring would defeat Satan. (Genesis 3:15) And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” What God is saying to Satan (the serpent) is that one of Adam and Eve's descendants will crush the head of Satan and defeat sin.
Man's sinfulness:
As time went on mankind became very sinful and broken. Genesis 6:6 says "And the Lord regretted what he had made man on earth" The world was in need of a Savior. That Savior would come as Jesus Christ. The Son of God he would be the perfect lamb and the reason that we may have eternal life.
Mankind was in desperate need of the Savior, and scripture had prophesied that a great king would come and save man. (Psalm 40:6-8) Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have opened, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come, it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” Then almost 1000 years after this it says in (Hebrews 10:5-7) Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—I have come to do your will, my God." This shows the fulfillment of the prophecy of Jesus
