PROBLEM: Students use plastic water bottles
CHALLENGE: Use reusable water bottles (by Ana Mugarra)

According to the questionnaires, before the challenge, most students used single-use plastic water bottles and were unaware of the problems their use creates for the environment and for us. After the challenge, watching relevant videos and discussions, most use reusable bottles and the pleasant thing is that through the challenge, they learned relevant things and want to continue helping our planet.
Before starting the challenge, students anonymously completed a questionnaire regarding the use of water bottles. Then we watched videos about the environmental problems caused by the use of single-use plastics (The Problems with Single-use Plastics) and played a quiz based on what they watched and discussed for better consolidation and understanding of the problem.

Before the challenge, almost all students were using single use plastic bottles.

PROBLEM : We observed that our students did not separate waste sufficiently and did not contribute to recycling.
CHALLENGE : You can recycle waste oils (Suggested by Georgian Karabali)
RESULTS AND IMPACTS
Our students understood the value of every waste with this activity. They looked in amazement at the formation of soap from waste oil. They supported their families more in collecting waste oil.
Our students started to accumulate their waste oil at home. The accumulated oils were brought to the school. We made our organic soap using water, waste oil and sodium hydroxide. After 20 days of drying time, we were able to use our organic soaps. You can watch our soap making video by scanning the QR code.

We warned our classes not to waste unnecessary paper and not to tear pages out of our notebooks for a week. We collected waste paper for recycling. We used some of the collected waste paper as material in math class. Our students designed notebooks with the clean parts of the collected paper. Other waste papers were sent to centers to be recycled.
