One day Kiki was coming from school. She was in her mom's car riding to the Pineapple Fountain, and she'd meet her friends there. They would have a sleepover with her. They picked Maya and Alice up and drove home.

In the night, Kiki awoke to the sound of her computer. It read "WARNING: WATER COMBINED WITH ELECTRICITY FOUND IN YOUR AREA!" Kiki looked at her clock, which read 12:00. Kiki decided to go back to sleep because it was midnight.

Kiki went downstairs at 6:30 sharp. She ate breakfast, which was toast and bacon. Kiki's mom, Maya, and Alice were already down there. Kiki's mom

told them about a mystery. "Ms. Grinyard's hose put out water mixed with electricity."

 "What!" exclaimed Alice, Maya, and Kiki. They immediately hopped into the car and went to Ms. Grinyard's house. Ms. Grinyard was very upset.

''It ruined my flowers,'' she said. ''It's Ok," Police Kat (Kiki's mom) said. Ms. Grinyard said that Pete did it.

Berkeley County Electric

Kiki, Maya, and Alice found Pete. Then they went to Berkeley County Electric Co-op for ideas to solve the mystery. The co-op said that the power line by her house explained why Ms. Grinyard suspected Pete. She thought he got the power off the line and to her house. They also said to call the water supply. They were very helpful.

Kiki called the water supply, and it said that there had been a car accident that caused power lines to fall into the water supply reservoir. "It's dangerous when water and electricity mix," the water supply person reminded the girls. Then Kiki called Public Works, who is responsible for water piping. They also reported electricity in the water. Kiki asked for a pipe map. She found out that the electricity did not fade away.

Maya and Alice went to get Pete, but Kiki stayed in her room to get it ready for Pete by getting her dog, Brownie, to go into the corner and making her bed.
