Once upon a time, in a future filled with technology, two young girls, Esmanur and Roxana, decided to open the doors of the digital world. This journey was full of steps to learn the basics of digital citizenship and become responsible digital citizens.
“Do you know how important it is to be safe and follow ethical rules in the digital world?” Esmanur asked one day when they met after school.
“Yes, but I want to learn more, where can we start?” asked Roxana curiously.

Seeing Roxana's curiosity, Esmanur presented her with a plan. “First, it is done as a research brief to learn how to behave safely and responsibly as registered. We can also get help from our technology program at school. Then we would identify small storage and offices to use them in order to use them. For example, about creating strong passwords, protecting our personal information and being available offline.” Roxana enthusiastically agreed and together they set off on their digital citizenship journey. Learning new things with her topic, they became more at home and responsible digital citizens.

The girls learned that password security starts with creating a strong password. A strong password is: at least 12 characters long but 14 or more is better, a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Not a word that can be found in a dictionary or the name of
a person,character, product or organization.
Personal information protection starts with your own actions, because once this information is in the hands of others, you have little to no means of controlling it.
Roxana and Esmanur understand that they have a lot to learn about safety.

- There is still a lot to learn to become a digital citizen, Roxana said.
- You are right, said Esmanur. Now I want to know how a strong password becomes abundant but how to distinguish real news from fake.
- Look at the website the story came from. Does it look like the real thing? Is the text well written? Are there other stories or is it just one story?
- Yes, you are right, but ....
- See if the story you read has been picked up by other news websites you know and trust.
- We have a lot to learn...

Esmanur and Roxana were advancing in the digital world, asking new questions and becoming more conscious every day. Roxana said, "Shall we learn exactly how to create a strong password?" Esmanur said: "Yes! For example, we should not use birth dates or names. We should mix letters, parts and special characters." Exactly!" Esmanur said. "It is also important to use a different password for each site." Esmanur continued about the news: "As she said before, it is very important to surf the internet where it comes from. Does it look reliable? Also, if the text is poorly written, if there are spelling mistakes, we should be suspicious," said Roxana, "We also need to look at whether the same news is only in one place or on other reliable news sites." Roxana said, "There is a lot to learn."

Esmanur and Roxana were excited to put their new knowledge into practice. They both created strong passwords and created news health. One day, Esmanur and Roxana were chatting with new teachers they had met in the digital world in the computer lab at their school. One of these friends suggested a new project on digital citizenship: a campaign that included all the rules and created a sustainable focus on digital security and ethics. Esmanur said: “This is a great idea! We can all be safer in the digital world and we can teach it.”
Roxanna added: “Yes, the responsibility of this campaign is that everyone will learn to be more digital.” The group quickly gathered around the ideas and began to develop a plan. They aimed to create a lasting impression by giving short presentations in different school classes and sharing information about digital citizenship.

Roxana and Esmanur work hard to prepare their digital citizenship campaign. They produce colourful posters, interactive slides and even a small website with useful tips on how to navigate safely. After few weeks, the day of the presentation arrives. The school auditorium is full of curious students.
‘Good morning everyone!’ begins Esmanur with a smile. ‘Today we want to talk to you about how to become responsible digital citizens.’ Roxana continues ' The digital world can be a wonderful place, but only if we know how to protect ourselves and respect others.’
The students listen attentively. Than, one boy raises his hand and asks, ‘How can we report a suspicious site or post?’
‘Interesting question!’ replies Esmanur. ‘Many social media and websites have reporting functions. You can click on the three dots next to the post and select ‘Report’. If it is a misleading website, you can also notify the relevant authorities or a trusted adult.’
After the presentation, the headmaster compliments the girls.

The students applauded and congratulated Roxana and Esmanur, while a few asked questions with their fingers. ‘So how can we spot fake news that we come across on the internet?’ Roxana said: ‘Great question! There are a few ways to spot fake news. First, check the news. Is it published on a reliable news site? You can also compare the accuracy of the same news by researching different sources.’ Esmanur added: ‘Also, it is very important to quickly verify a news story before sharing it.’ At the end of the presentation, Esmanur and Roxana emphasized once again that there is hidden activity in the digital world. The school principal ran back onto the stage: ‘Roxana and Esmanur, you did a great job! It was an informative and inspiring presentation. Congratulations.’ The students applauded and supported them. Roxana and Esmanur left the stage smiling at each other.

As Roxana and Esmanur walked off the stage, their friends and teachers gathered around them. “This information is really useful,” one student whispered. “Will you do more presentations in the future to learn more about these topics?” another student asked. “Of course, we are always ready to share innovations and learning opportunities,” Roxana replied with a smile. Esmanur added, “You can always support us with your questions and contributions. Together we can build a better digital world.” After this candid conversation, students and teachers came together to continue discussing the dangers and opportunities of the digital world. Roxana and Esmanur proudly joined their friends, feeling the value of their work once again.
