The Treasure of Friendship
Once upon a time, in a distant land, there was a small village hidden between mountains and endless forests. In this village lived two children, Ilinca and Radu, the best of friends. Ilinca was a kind-hearted girl, always ready to help when needed, and she believed that Radu was just like her, but on this journey, she realized that he was the complete opposite! They had known each other since they learned to walk and shared an unspoken bond. They played together, shared their dreams and hopes, and there was nothing that could separate them. Until one day...
The Witch's Prophecy
One day, the village's old witch, Baba Murgana, came to the
town square and uttered a prophecy:
"A great disaster will strike the village! Only those who find the treasure hidden in the depths of the Silver Forest will be able to save the people from ruin!"
This news shook the entire community. People feared that their village would disappear, and the only hope was finding the treasure. Ilinca and Radu, brave and eager to help their people, decided to set out in search of the treasure. They knew they would face great dangers, but nothing could stop them. They packed food, put on their warmest clothes, and began their journey.
The Trials in the Silver Forest
The Silver Forest was a magical, yet dangerous place. The
trees had leaves that shimmered like stars, and their roots moved, seemingly creating new hidden paths. Right at the entrance, the two friends were greeted by a whispering wind that said:
"Only those with a pure heart will find the way to the treasure!"
Ilinca and Radu clung to each other and began walking deeper into the forest. Along the way, they encountered an old blind man, who stopped in front of an old, cracked bridge. Radu, eager to get to the treasure as quickly as possible, said:
"We don’t have time, Ilinca! We must continue!"
But Ilinca, seeing the old man, looked at him with
compassion and said:
Ilinca didn’t listen to him. She reached out her hand to the old man and helped him cross the turbulent river. The old man, in gratitude, gave them a glowing talisman, saying:
"This will guide you through the darkness and show you the way when dangers arise."
The Injured Wolf
They continued their journey, and soon they encountered an injured wolf lying in the middle of the path, agitated and weak. Radu, frightened by the animal’s movements, threw a stone at the wolf and said:
"It’s too risky to get close! It might attack us!"
But Ilinca noticed that the poor beast had an injured paw,
and carefully approached the wolf, bandaging its wound with a piece of her cloak. The wolf looked at her with grateful eyes and ran off into the forest, leaving them in peace.
The First Chamber: The Flying Bridge
As they continued toward the heart of the forest, Ilinca and Radu reached a large waterfall, where a river with clear, deep waters flowed. Above the river, there was a wooden bridge that looked like it could collapse at any moment. Suddenly, a voice came from behind them:
"To cross, you must answer this riddle:
'What is unseen but felt with all your being, and the more you have, the easier it becomes?'"
Radu, impatient, quickly answered:
"Love!"
But the voice said:
"That’s not correct."
Ilinca, thinking more carefully, answered calmly:
"Hope! The more hope you have, the easier it becomes to face hardships."
Immediately, the bridge strengthened, allowing them to cross. Once on the other side, they continued their journey, knowing they must answer the next challenges correctly.
The Second Chamber: The Fire Labyrinth
Further ahead, they reached a valley where flames danced in the air, never extinguishing. A narrow path led to a large stone door, but it was surrounded by rising flames.
Suddenly, a mysterious voice asked:
"What burns more intensely than fire, but cannot be extinguished?"
Radu, fearful, answered:
"Anger!"
But the voice said:
"Wrong! Anger can be extinguished, but what truly burns cannot be extinguished ever!"
Ilinca closed her eyes for a moment and gently replied:
"Passion! Passion burns with an unquenchable power, but it does no harm when it is true."
The stone door opened, allowing them to pass through.
The Third Chamber: Returning to the Beginning
Finally, Ilinca and Radu reached the entrance of a deep cave that shone like a diamond. In front of them stood a stone giant, who seemed to guard the entrance. The cave’s guardian spoke:
"Only those who have understood the true treasure may enter. Ask yourselves: What is truly precious?"
Radu, eager to reach the end, quickly said:
"Money!"
But the giant responded:
"That’s not it. Money can be lost. Answer with your heart!"
Ilinca, thinking about all the lessons learned on their journey, answered:
"Friendship! It is priceless and immortal, and no material
