During the 1700s in the 13 British colonies the people who lived in the colonies( the colonist) didn't like the way the British kept treating them because the British kept taxing them for led ,paint, games, tea, sugar and paper and many more. The colonist got fed up and wanted freedom! So then the colonist started fighting, first was the battle of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts.Then
Did you know that the colonist who fought are called patriots
the colonist made a militia. On July 4th 1776 the colonist wrote the Declaration of Independence this document said that the colonist wanted to be free of British rule and have there’s own government. Then in 1783 the war was over when both sides signed the treaty of Paris. After the 13 colonies became the United States of America.
Did you know that not all the colonist fought some were loyal to the British and they were called loyalist.
All About the Battle of Lexington and Concord
On April 19 1775 the battle of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts started, about 700 British soldiers fought 80 armed Colonists. Sudenly someone shot no one who knew who the colonist thought the soldiers and the soldiers thought the Colonist! The soldiers and Colonist fought and fought and then there were 73 soldiers killed 174 wounded and 26 missing and

49 colonist killed 39 wounded and 5 missing. That was the battle of Lexington and Concord folks.
