The story begins similarly to the original tale, with Maleficent as a young fairy befriending Stefan. However, instead of Stefan betraying her for personal gain, he is manipulated by an ancient dark force—an entity known as the Shadow King.  

Stefan still cuts off Maleficent's wings, but his actions are driven by the Shadow King’s promise to grant him immortality. Maleficent discovers the truth about the Shadow King and vows revenge—not just on Stefan but on the entity threatening both realms.

The Shadow King begins invading the Moors, corrupting creatures with dark magic and spreading chaos across both kingdoms.

Maleficent unites the magical creatures of the Moors into an army. Diaval becomes her general and is transformed into a hybrid dragon-warrior. The once peaceful Moors become a battlefield against the Shadow King’s forces.

    Aurora grows up under Maleficent’s watchful eye. Instead of being raised by negligent fairies, she learns about her destiny and trains to become a bridge between humans and magical creatures.
