Exposition

After an airplane crash, a group of kids are stuck on an island. They are scared but they all work together to stay safe. There are two older boys named Jack and Ralph. Jack protects the group from danger and Ralph makes good choices. They all like to play around, but they need a plan to get off the island.

Conflict

One day, the kids decide to vote for a leader between Jack and Ralph, so they can make better plans.

The kids all choose Ralph to be their leader.

Jack gets really mad and yells, "Ralph, you're cheating!" "You all will be in trouble without me!"

Ralph feels hurt by Jack’s mean words and says, 'No, I’m not!'

Jack runs off into the forest, leaving everyone in danger.

Ralph wanted to say one more thing to Jack and shouted, "We can share!" But it was too late. Jack had already run deep into the forest.

Rising Action

As night comes, Jack needs a place to stay because it is getting dark.

Jack finds a small cave. He looks inside, feels around, and sees there is more space. Then, he goes inside to sleep.

When Jack is inside the cave, he feels scared because it is dark.

Jack wants to go back, but he doesn’t know the way.

Jack thinks for a moment and decides to go deeper into the cave.

Jack sees a table and finds a Christian Bible book on top of it.

He picks it up and reads what it says inside.

The book tells him to forgive and always be kind to others (Compassion).

It also says to let go of anything bad someone did to him (Compassion).

Jack thinks to himself, "If I learn to forgive and stop being angry, maybe the other kids will like me again."

Rising action

Jack walks a little further into the cave and finds another strange Islamic book called The Koran.

He picks up the book and reads it.

The book teaches him to be fair to others (Mufti).

It also says to share with people who are less lucky (Mufti).

Jack thinks to himself, 'Maybe if I was fair and shared, the other kids would listen to me too.
