American Alligators habitat is in freshwater like swamps, lakes, and marshes. American Alligators are located mostly in the southeastern part of the United States. They live up to the age of 30-50 years old. American Alligators eat various different animals like fish, turtles, snakes, birds, and sometimes even other alligators. Alligators produce 20-60 offspring in a season, typically producing around 38.

The sizes of alligators are based on age, gender, and location. The majority of Male alligators are larger than female alligators. The color of an alligator also varies, as they age their color tends to fade out usually turning out an olive, brown, grey, or black color. An alligator's weight differs between female and male. Male alligators average a weight of 500 lbs, a female averages 200 lbs. Some adaptations that help alligators survive is to have a strong jaw and teeth to consume food, have protective bony plates, and alligators have the ability breathe by having only the top of their head above the water.

Homologous Structures between alligators:
1. the forelimbs- arms and legs
2. the four chambered heart
The forelimbs of an American Alligator share similar bone structures.
The four chambered hearts in an alligator and a human are similar because they have two atria and two ventricles that are responsible of separating bloods.

Humans and alligators forelimbs are used differently. Humans use their forelimbs for grasping. Meanwhile alligators use their forelimbs for swimming.
The four chambered hearts in an alligator is different than in a human. Alligators have a more complicated heart with 2 aortas and have extra valves, which allows them to control blood flow for underwater activity. While humans have only one aorta and a very less confusing heart.
