In the town of Boston, something very special was happening. The streets were full of people, and the harbor was filled with tall ships. But today, something big was going to change.

Meet Samuel, a young boy who lived in Boston. He loved running down to the harbor to see the big ships come in. But today, Samuel had a feeling that something important was about to happen.

One afternoon, Samuel heard the grown-ups talking in hushed voices. "The British are making us pay taxes on our tea!" one man said. "We shouldn't have to pay for something we don’t want!" another man shouted.

"Taxes on tea?" Samuel wondered. "Why would anyone want to make people pay for their tea?" He didn’t quite understand, but he knew it made the grown-ups angry.

?
That evening, Samuel and his friends heard more about what was happening. The British wanted the colonists to pay a tax on tea, a drink everyone loved. And if they didn't pay, the British would send soldiers to collect the money!

"That doesn’t seem fair," said Samuel. "Why should they tell us what to do?" Samuel's friend, Lucy, had an idea. "Maybe we should do something about it!"

Late at night, a secret group of people called the "Sons of Liberty" gathered. They had a plan. They didn't want to pay the unfair tax, so they decided to do something bold... and exciting!

In the middle of the night, Samuel and his friends quietly followed the men in cloaks to the harbor. They were about to do something big. They climbed aboard the ships, and on those ships... were huge boxes of tea!

The men started throwing the boxes of tea into the water. Splash! Splash! The sea was soon filled with hundreds of tea leaves floating in the dark water.

"Wow!" Samuel whispered. "This is really happening!" The men kept throwing box after box into the harbor. It was the Boston Tea Party!

The next morning, the British soldiers and merchants were shocked when they saw what had happened. The tea was gone! The colonists had sent a bold message.

"Goodbye, tea!" cheered Samuel and his friends from a distance. "We won’t stand for unfair taxes!
