Poems Of the World Around Us
By: Kristin Li
I'm Kristin Li!
Life
Life is like a sun; rising and falling.
Life is like a moon; there is something new always to look forward to.
Life is like a dusty, nostalgic picture; nothing is perfect, but you can brush off old sin of the past.
Life is like an adventure; you'll find many interesting things awaiting you.
Life is like work; after you are done, you can rest.
Life is you; you are everything.

Spring
A sliver of sunlight peaks through the clouds
Warming up the frosty grounds
Seedlings sprout from under the snow
Into beautiful flowers, they will grow
Animals stir awake under the grass
When the cold vanishes like an hourglass
Under the refreshing rain,
The last of the wintery ice is drained
Young green leaves replace the ones that fell away
Dancing in the blissful spring day!

Summer
The hot, sticky sun smiles down on the trees
Helping children cool down with the whispering breeze.
The flowers bloom full of life
Attracting the nearby beehive
Critters play in the pond,
Leaving their burrows far beyond
Ice cream, anyone? Yes please!
A few refreshments would bring everything at ease!

Autumn
Autumn comes, autumn goes.
Leaves fall, breezes blow.
Autumn is time for the Thanksgiving fest,
When trees and flowers come to rest.
Halloween is almost near,
When candy is eaten and spirits jeer.
Autumn comes, autumn goes.
When leaves descend, when warmth flows.

The Downpour and the Dew
Rolling, raging, tumbling down
Leaves falling on the ground
Gathers in a great big puddle
Insects scatter, animals huddle
Hits the grass with plummeting force
You'll want to stay inside, of course!
Glistening, glimmering little beads
Awakens the earth stuffed full of seeds
You may see it settling in a nest,
Or curled up on petals, taking it's rest
You'll see it in your backyard when you're having fun
Lazily smiling at the sun!

Snow
Spinning, sliding, gliding, swirling
I descend from the clouds, twisting, twirling
I freeze on the oceans, forming glaciers
I am found on fields of both tight and spacious
You'll see me rest on grass and leaves,
Or blown by the wind, across the lazy seas;
Come winter I'm everywhere, high and low,
Frozen or soft, my name is snow!
