Walk into the small building

of peace, quiet, and the smell of caffeine

Where you meet

Her

The barista

silky hair

big eyes

and the brightest smile

which greets you as soon as you step in

She listens

As you talk

about

your hopes

dreams

wishes

nodding

laughing at your jokes

comforting you through your harshest moments

She is always there for you

Your cup of liquified caffeine had never tasted

so strong

or as sweet

For your true friends will always bring the taste of life

Staring down at your steaming cup of espresso

Remembering the time it used to be

The way you'd laugh with your friends

All those memories subsiding

as you stare down at the steaming cup

They've long changed since those times

and so have you

People change

and it's okay to miss your old friends

or to not recognize this new person they've become

You'll also change along the way

and it doesn't necessarily have to be bad

embrace the new person you have become
