Once upon a time...
According to traditional stories, the villagers at the foot of Mount Batu Sanggiriak have been suffering from famine for years. This suffering is the result of the failure of rain-fed rice crops due to prolonged drought. The desperate men have chosen to abandon their village.

However, two farmer who are loyal friends do not want to give up when they face the disaster of a long drought destined by the owner of the universe. The two farmer tried to create a channel for the flow of water from the upstream river at the foot of Mount Batu Sanggiriak for the people's rice fields which had been dry for years.

The two young men, who were loyal friends, spent months making water flows to serve the people who were hungry and in poverty. When the water flow had finished and the river had been covered with large stones by them, then at midnight the water flowed into the rice fields.

In the middle of the night, a giant voice came from Mount Batu Sanggiriak.
"Hey two young men, as a sign of your loyalty and devotion to your people, I will transform you into two giant stones in this river. Have no regrets, so that the nation's children and grandchildren will know of your loyalty and devotion to this village," said the giant voice from Mount Batu Sanggiriak.
