To all the young kids who might be
frightened to start new phase in life!

A Sickly Start...
I was born in New York, in 1858. I know... a long, long, long time ago.
From a small age I was always looked at as a small weak boy, lanky, who struggles with asthma.
I struggled to breathe at times, and felt like giving up. Little did I know this was only the first round.
Instead of giving up, I trained like a boxer, doing things like hiking, climbing and lifting weights
This was my first big fight.

As I kept getting older, I grew to love the outdoors. I felt like it was the most beautiful, most precious thing in our world. And we must keep it that way
Outdoor Champion...

Like a boxer, I pushed myself to train harder and harder.
During my training, I climbed mountains, hiked, and studied multiple animals. It felt like my love for the outdoors kept growing, as well as my muscles.
Little did I know that most of my battles wouldn't even require my muscles...

As I grew up I was able to attend Harvard and create a career in politics.
After attending Columbia to study law, I was able to win a seat on the New York state legislature.
The fight against loss...

Unfortunately, I was faced with another difficult round in my life when my first wife and mother passed away.
It was time for me to pursue a change scenery, therefor, I headed somewhere new...

I headed west and became one of the most fierce cowboys. I started working in a ranch and pursued a calm life with nature during my time of grieving
One with the west...

After my time in the west, I headed back to New York City. I began to work for the government again and held a variety of jobs over the next several years including the U.S. Civil Service Commission under President Benjamin Harrison, New York City Police Commissioner, and Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

In 1895, a new round began. The Spanish-American War. I gathered volunteers and formed a volunteer cavalry regiment that became known as the "Rough Riders". You could say this led to some fame in my life.
Riding in the Rough...
