INTRODUCTION
Have you ever looked up at an airplane and wondered what it would feel like to fly? A long time ago, when most people thought flying was only for men, Amelia Earhart proved them wrong. She showed the world that women could soar through the skies as well. Well, here is her story...
A Curious Child
Amelia Mary Earhart was born in 1897 in Kansas. As a little girl, she loved adventure. She climbed trees, built ramps, and rode her sled down them like she was flying. Even then, Amelia dreamed big.

Discovering Airplanes
In 1920, Amelia went to an air show. The first time she saw a plane up close, she knew she wanted to fly. She worked hard, saved money, and paid for flying lessons. Her teacher was another woman pilot named Neta Snook.

The Flying Lady
Amelia quickly became famous. Reporters called her the “Queen of the Air.” She set records for flying higher and faster than many others. People around the world admired her courage.

Across the Ocean
In 1928, Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, though she was a passenger. In 1932, she flew solo across the Atlantic all by herself! It was a dangerous trip, but she made it safely.

Around the World
Amelia wasn’t done. In 1937, she set out to fly all the way around the world. She and her navigator, Fred Noonan, flew thousands of miles. But sadly, their plane disappeared over the Pacific Ocean and was never found.

A Lasting Legacy
Even though Amelia’s last flight ended in mystery, her bravery continues to inspire. She showed everyone that dreams have no limits, and that girls could achieve great things in the sky and beyond.
