This diary was written a long time ago, when humans and dragons lived in peace together. This book has recently been rediscovered, and Haddie Pearson translated this book for people to be able to read it and better understand it. Haddie Pearson also added some pictures to help people imagine the characters better. (All sketches are original.) Fly high in the wings of books and enjoy reading the diary of a dragon rider.

The first day of week three of dragon camp
We met some dragons today. Alex was terrified, Thomas wanted to see one up close, I was also excited to finally see a dragon up close, and Jay was interested in seeing a dragon up close too, but he was a little more hesitant. When we finally found some, Professor Renly said to approach them calmly and quietly, and to sit down a little way from them. We did as we were told, except for Alex, who refused to go anywhere near the dragons. I sat down and started humming a little tune waiting for a dragon to come close. The dragons were all different colors, but mostly the same size. They were small and playful. We all waited a while, but finally, four brave dragons creeped towards us. Alex yelped as the dragon walking towards her came closer. I hummed; the little blue dragon coming towards me seemed to like my little tune. So, I started quietly singing.
Over reeds and hills, you fly
The dragon crept closer.
Mountains and rivers you pass by
The dragon was only a couple inches away from my foot.
The wind is your road
The dragon curled on my lap and purred.
Only for me you slow
It sighs and falls asleep.
You're a dragon for me
Hear your heartbeat.

Second day of week three
Pro. Renly said that we connected with those dragons very well. Even Alex got used to the dragon that kept coming close to her. Not that she's not scared of them anymore, she just is less afraid. I hope. Today, Pro. Renly said that we're going to get our dragons. We were all super excited, because the dragon you get is the one that bonds with you, and also that you can ride and go on adventures with. We walked into the dragon lair, an underground area where most dragons live. I walked around for a little while taking in all the sights and sounds of dragons playing, roaring, and flying. Suddenly, I bumped into something. I turned around and found myself facing a huge dragon. It had two heads: both colored differently. One of the heads was dark blue, and the other red. The dragon lowered both of its heads down; I turned my face away and reached out both my hands. I felt the dragon's breath on my palms. A second later, I felt the scaly forehead of a dragon. I turned my face back, smiling from ear to ear. I hopped on the blue dragon's neck and walked back to Pro. Renly.
He smiled and congratulated me on finding my dragon. My dragon lowered its head and I hopped off. Just then, Alex came running and screaming, being followed by a large dragon with feathers in shades of blue. Alex screamed at us to help her, and Pro. Renly informed her that the dragon probably wanted to bond with her. All the colors in Alex's face drained, but she reluctantly turned her head away and stretched out her hand. The dragon made a cute little happy screech and put its forehead against Alex's palm. Alex shuddered at the touch, but she turned her face back, smiling. She sat down next to the dragon and said that she's going to name it Tidepool. I turned to my dragon and named the blue head Tsunami and the red head Flame. They seemed to really like the names because they roared loudly, as if they were announcing it to the whole world. Thomas came back with a middle-sized dragon that had black,
white and blue scales and said he named him Lightning. Jay came back a little after Thomas with a dragon that looked like a cross between a rhino and a beetle. Jay said he named her Rhinohorn. Today was pretty awesome.

Day three of week three
Today we got our saddles and rode our dragons. We were all super excited. Even Alex. After we finished breakfast, we walked to the training grounds where Pro. Renly was with our dragons. Each of our dragons had a saddle next to them. Pro. Renly taught us how to put our saddles on, and once we got them on, he said to hop on our dragons. I jumped onto the saddle and got comfortable, and once Pro. Renly said we could, I took off. The feeling of flying was amazing. Nothing was pulling me down, and I could fly forever. Well, until Flame and Tsunami got tired. I flew around, doing loop-a-loops laughing and cheering as we cut through the air. Finally, Pro. Renly said to land and that today's lesson was over, but we could still fly once our dragons rested. Thomas said that Lightning didn't need to rest, but Pro. Renly gave him the stink eye for a good minute and a half, so I'm pretty sure Lightning will be getting some rest. After Flame and Tsunami rested, I rode again. Yep, never going to get bored of flying.
