Once upon a time, there lived a bear who was never, ever tired. While other bears snored the night away, this one stayed wide awake! He loved to cook delicious meals, play games, munch on tasty snacks, pick bright flowers, laugh with his friends, and watch his favorite shows on TV.

But one day, something strange happened.
While the bear was stirring his pancake batter, he yawned. Just a tiny yawn at first, “Aaaah…” but then another followed, and another! His eyes began to droop, and his spoon slipped from his paw.
“Oh dear,” he mumbled, “What’s happening to me?”

He tried to play his favorite game, but the pieces looked blurry. He tried to watch TV, but the screen started to fade. Even the flowers he picked seemed to whisper softly, “Rest, little bear… rest.”
The bear shook his head. “I can’t be sleepy! I never sleep!”
But no matter how hard he tried, his eyelids grew heavier and heavier.

The bear blinked hard and stood up straight. “No! I’m not sleepy,” he said, puffing out his chest.
He splashed a little cool water on his face, shook his fur, and decided to go outside. The fresh air tickled his nose, and the sunlight sparkled through the trees.

The bear took a deep breath and smiled. “See? Wide awake!” he said proudly.
He wandered through the forest, listening to the birds sing their cheerful morning songs. A butterfly fluttered past his nose, and he giggled. But as he walked, his steps grew slower... and slower.
He yawned, just a tiny one, then shook his head. “Nope! Not tired at all,” he mumbled, even though his eyes were feeling heavy again.
Then he spotted his favorite log by the river and thought, Maybe I’ll just sit for a minute.
The bear carefully climbed onto the log and curled up, letting out a soft sigh. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves above, and the sound of the river flowing was like a lullaby.
For a moment, he tried to stay awake, shaking his head and muttering, “Nope, wide awake” But his eyelids felt heavier with every passing second.
