  The school that we go to is right on the beach,

  where the sand and the waves are just out of reach.

     It’s fun to sit in class, watching the seals in the bay,

     and dream about sailing a sailboat each day.

  But there is one thing that is not so grand,

  about going to school so close to beach sand.

  It’s the fact that pirates come once a week,

  to use our playground, that is what they seek.

     It’s not that we mind that they come for some fun.

     It’s the fact that they don’t have good manners when they come.

     They don’t wait in line or say “please” or “thank you”.

     They won’t take turns or clean up when they’re through.

  On this day though I hope to change all of this.

  As I plan on telling the pirates that all of us wish,

  that they act a little nicer and say “please” and “thank you”.

  Yes, that is what I intend to do!

     “Excuse me” I said as Davis came to the playground.

     He was the pirate who never made a sound.

     He looked at me funny before showing me his new ruby ring,

     and then ran and cut in front of Maya 

     who was waiting for her turn on the swing. 

  Then came Lady Killigrew wearing a shirt made of silk,

  who was in such a hurry she bumped Connor, spilling his milk.

  “Can I talk to you Ms. Killigrew?” I politely asked.

  But she just swung by me like a sailor swings on a mast.

  She then looked at Billy and pointed her finger, and without saying

  please said “Argh little Billy, push me on the animal springer.”

     Next came Skully who wore a patch over his eye.

     Skully didn't like to share and often said the word “Aye”

     “Skully, I need to tell you something” I said.

     But Skully just kept running, full steam ahead.

     With a toothless smile, he went over to Lars,

     and said, “Aye but you know I’m the only one who gets to 

     play on them thar Monkey bars.”

  The next pirate was Red who has bright red hair,

  and he walked in to the playground eating a big juicy pear.

  But instead of throwing it into the garbage can,

  he just threw it over by the box filled with sand.

  He then jumped over Molly and her stuffed cat,

  screaming as he did “Hey you scallywags, I’m going to be the 

  first to play on the witches’ hat!”

     The next pirate was Bellamy who always wore a velvet vest,

     and he didn't like to share either, just like the rest.

     Instead of listening to me and what I was saying,

     he ran towards my teacher, swinging and swaying.

     “Argh me beauty but I think your playing on me slide.

     As you know, with my wooden leg, it’s the only ride I like to ride.”

  The next pirate was Bonney who had a green parrot,

  who swooped off her shoulder and ate all my carrots.

  “Bonney please call Crackers, she will listen to you!”

  But Bonney didn't listen. Instead she just acted like she hadn't a clue.     

  She then took off her boot and poured out some salt water,

  and told Abby that she had to come play with her on the teeter totter.

     The seventh and last pirate out of the boat,

     was Captain Jack himself, wearing his bright red coat.

     He didn’t notice that I tried to talk to him as well, 

     instead he focused on the dome that was gold like a bell. 

  “Arrgh the seven seas me has roamed, but me favorite thing 

  in this thar world is this thar geodesic dome.”

  He then walked by me, his beard unfurled,

  and started playing on the dome without a care in the world.

     “Enough!” I said as loud as I could,

     and all the pirates came to a stop, right where they stood.

     “What’s thar matter swab?” asked Captain Jack

     As he climbed up the front of the dome and then down the back.
