It was a gloriously sunny afternoon, and Halle was having a wonderful time in the park. She was wearing her favourite blue and white dress and was giggling as her two best canine friends, Lola the Frenchie, and Archie the Lurcher, chased each other through the long grass

Lola  was full of energy, her little legs pumping as she tried to keep up with the much faster Archie.

Archie  was bounding ahead. He loved to show off his speed, his tail blurring like a white flag in the wind.

"Ready, set, GO!" Halle shouted, tossing a brightly coloured ball.

Archie took off like a rocket! Lola, determined, followed in hot pursuit, but she got distracted by a butterfly that fluttered just a bit too close to a flowerbed near a stand of tall, thick hedges. Sniff, sniff... Lola loved flowers, especially ones that smelled slightly of tasty dirt.

Halle, focused on Archie’s amazing fetch, didn't notice Lola wander off until Archie came trotting back with the ball.

"Where's Lola?" Halle wondered, looking around.

"Woof!" Archie gave a perplexed look, scanning the grass with his keen eyes.

The flowerbed led to a maze-like section of tall playground hedges that Halle and the dogs sometimes used for hide-and-seek.

"Lola!" Halle called, her voice starting to sound a little wobbly. "Lola, where are you?"

Lola's Big Mistake .

Lola had followed the lovely butterfly right into the thicket of hedges. She pushed her way through a tiny gap, then another, and then found herself in a small, shadowy clearing. The butterfly was gone, and the delicious dirt scent was replaced by a confusing smell of damp leaves.

When she tried to go back the way she came, all the paths looked the same! "Oof," she snorted, her big Frenchie snout twitching. She couldn't hear Halle or Archie anymore. Lola was lost!

"Snuff! Woof-snort!" she called out, but the hedges just seemed to muffle her sound.
