For my son,
May you always know who you are,
and how deeply you are loved.

In the wide, golden savanna, lived Mommy Elephant and her little boy, Baby Elephant.
Life had not been easy for Mommy Elephant. She had once walked through storms that made her heart heavy, and been in a herd that didn’t treat her kindly
But she was brave. Every morning, even when her legs felt tired and her heart ached, she would wake up, stretch her trunk, and trumpet softly
“Good morning, my prince charming.”
And Baby Elephant would giggle and say,
“Good morning, Mommy!”
Mommy Elephant had learned many things along her journeys but something important always stuck with her,
Even when the world seemed cruel, she could still give her son love, safety, and guidance.
No matter how many storms came, she would never let him feel her pain.
There were days when the wind howled louder than her courage, and the sun beat down harder than she could bare. She was sometimes bullied by others, hurt by words and actions, but she always held her head high. She put a smile on her face and never stopped going, because she had a reason to, he was her reason.
Every day, Mommy Elephant worked hard to give Baby Elephant everything he needed,
Food to grow strong, water to stay healthy, and love to grow brave.
She believed in him more than anything in the whole savanna
it was her and her prince charming against the world.
Baby Elephant learned quickly. He ran, explored, and played,
and every day, he grew bigger, smarter, and stronger.
Mommy Elephant would watch him and trumpet proudly,
“You are amazing, my little prince charming. You are smarter than all the elephants I know."
But even the strongest mommies can face challenges.
Sometimes, Baby Elephant didn’t mean to hurt her feelings, but he did. He would trumpet, stomp, or act out, and Mommy Elephant felt a heavy weight in her heart.
This was her greatest challenge, learning to step back. She realized she could not protect him from every bump or bruise, or hold him through every mistake. She had to let him have his experiences, even when it made her sad.
So she found a balance.
She stayed close enough to catch him if he fell,
but far enough to let him grow, stumble, and learn on his own.
She whispered to herself:
“I will always be here if you need me, my prince charming. Always."
