I am lying in my bed all snuggled up and ready to go to sleep, but I cannot stop thinking about my busy day.
Verity and I were eating breakfast when Mummy received a phone call. We could just hear odd words such as Imi, 9.00am, bag and later. When Mummy came off the phone, she told us that Imi was going to be coming over to play. Even though Imi is my best friend, she plays with Verity too. We both jumped up and down as we knew that the day would be fun. We quickly put on play clothes and sat on the sofa near the front window and waited for Imi’s arrival. Even the dogs sat with us.
Verity wanted to dress up like Imi and so she went and put on her princess costume. I decided to dress up and put on my pirate’s costume. We all put on our wellington boots and headed outside into the garden. We took Imi to see our new climbing frame that Daddy had built. Imi was impressed and immediately wanted to climb the rock wall. We all managed to get to the top platform and could look out over the whole garden. Imi said we should pretend we were on a boat and sailing to get treasure. Verity rang the bell and I shouted, “Ahoy, off we go to get the treasure.” We all laughed.
We pretended that we could see dolphins and whales and then see land. We carefully went down the slide to go under the climbing frame to pretend it was a cave. Imi has an incredibly good imagination, and we sat and listened to her describe that we had found treasure. She knew a lot about pirates and treasure. Imi had seen a pirate show on TV, so she could tell us the story in detail. She then told us to get back up on the frame so we could take our treasure home. We all climbed to the top platform and then sat down.
Mummy called us for lunch. She allowed us to sit outside at the picnic bench. This felt like a special treat as we usually use the table and chairs for special celebrations. I guess today was special as we had Imi as our guest. Mummy brought us a hotdog and chips with juice. Mummy knows that Imi loves hotdogs, so we assumed that she would make them for us. The food was delicious, and we wondered whether rabbits would eat hotdogs. Imi made a scary sound as if to frighten the rabbits away.
After lunch we went on the seesaw. Imi found it fun to go up and down, but it was difficult for her to go around. Verity and Imi sat on the seesaw, and I helped Imi move to make the seesaw go around. Verity started to sing as she loves to do so when on the seesaw. Imi and I joined Verity, and we sang songs that we had learned at school.
Verity pointed to the berries on the bush. Verity said that sometimes we would collect and eat them. “The berries are sweet and juicy,” I said. Verity said, “You can only eat the berries at certain times otherwise you can end up with a tummy ache.” “Now is not the time,” I said. Imi rubbed her tummy and suggested we return to the house.
