Life in Texas

A long, long, long time ago, Texas used to be a part of Mexico. People from many places used to come to live here, where they built their homes, farms, and even towns.

These settlers worked very hard every day growing crops and raising animals!

Rising Conflict

However, soon problems began to grow...

The leader of Mexico, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna started to change the laws which many settlers felt were unfair.

Texans take a stand

The settlers began to speak up on how they wanted more freedom and rights, so eventually they decided to fight.

The First Battle

The first battle took place in Gonzales, where Texans used a small cannon to defend the town, which started the Texas Revolution.

The Alamo

Next, they gathered at the Alamo, where the battle lasted many days...

Brave Heroes

Leaders like Sam Houston helped guide the Texans, while others fought bravely at the Alamo. However, even though they lost, they did help inspire others.
