A young woman was beginning to wake up just as the sun was warming the red earth near the river. The water was cool and the sand soft.

Suddenly, the woman saw someone laying near her. She watched him lay there for a moment as she remembered the past night. He had lured her to this river.

The young woman was also remembering their conversation and how she called herself Yellow Woman based off of the stories her grandpa had told her growing up. Yellow Woman was not her real name.

She guessed the man's name was Silva, and he said he was a spirit from the mountains. Silva had finally woken up while Yellow Woman was thinking. He told her to follow him. Yellow Woman was confused, but followed him anyway.

Yellow Woman was thinking of the old stories grandpa had told her on their walk through the greenery. She recalled how there are other stories about people being lured into the woods by a mountain spirit and wondered if this was happening to her.

Was she becoming a part of the stories she heard growing up? Will people in the future retell her story as a Yellow Woman tale while drinking coffee around a fire?

Then, Yellow Woman spotted a house among the junipers and thought that must be where Silva lives. He led her inside and they started to cook a breakfast of fried potatoes over a small fire.

Yellow Woman shared her thoughts about becoming the Yellow Woman from stories while Silva listened. They talked together all day. Inside the small house and outside among the chirping birds. Eventually, they both fell asleep.

Silva was gone when Yellow Woman woke up in the house. She soon found some dried apricots in a cardboard box and decided to eat some.

While Yellow Woman was eating, she remembered she had a family. Parents, a husband, and a child waiting for her at home. Oh, how they must be so worried!
