buzz, buzz, buzz
hoot, hoot, hoot!
munch, munch, munch
siss, siss, siss
Once upon a time there was a wise
old Owl named Hoot.
Hoot lived in the woods where
many animals lived.
There were birds, bugs, and other
creeping things in the woods!
They all loved to sing in their own
special way.

One day while all the animals were
enjoying singing...there appeared a little
Indian boy.
The Indian boy did not like the sound of
the animals singing so he shot his arrow
and it stuck in a tree right above Hoot!
That scared all the animals away except
ole Hoot.
Hoot was hard of hearing.

But Hoot could see very well because he
had very large eyes!
And those large eyes scared the Indian
boy away!
Hoot flew up and sat on the arrow that
was stuck in the tree so he could see even
further away and he would be able to warn
the other animals if anything scary was
coming.
The animals began to reappear, but they
stayed quiet this time!

Run, Run, Run!
Scratch is coming!

Late one evening Hoot was watching
with his big eyes and noticed something
coming way off in the distance.
As it got closer...he noticed a big furry
monster.
That must be Scratch that I have heard
so much about! Run animals Run!!! He
shouted!

Roar!!!

Roar!!!
Even Hoot flew away and hid because
Scratch was so big and scary with the
loud roar he made that shook the trees!
Something else was also coming into
their forest. It was a big Whom-pas
Cat!
That Whom-pas Cat was huge and
roared also!

pop, pop, pop, pop!
roar! I'm scared!
me too, I'm getting out of here!
As Hoot hid in the forest he talked with
the other animals about how to scare
Scratch and the Whom-pas cat away.
They thought and thought and finally
came up with an idea...
We will let Sam the bird fly high above
them and drop some fire crackers by
their feet and scare them!

It worked! Shouted the animals!
Scratch and the Whom-pas cat is gone!
Thanks to the wise ole owl named Hoot
the animals could now live in peace and
once again sing their songs.
Hoot continued keeping a watchful eye in
the forest so the animals would be safe.
And every so often they would go visit
their friends on the farm.

On the farm was a very good friend to the other
animals and her name was Elsie the cow.
Elsie loved to wander around at night and eat
the fresh green grass in the field.
Elsie was a milk cow and usually gave white
milk but when she would eat some oats she
would give chocolate milk!
The children loved the chocolate milk Elsie
gave!

There was also another very friendly animal
that lived on the farm named Brownie.
Brownie was a horse and loved to go and run in
the dirt next to the water and enjoy seeing all
the beautiful things!
Brownie was very fast but also was very gentle
with the children.
Brownie loved for the children to ride her.

Then there was a raccoon named Sneaky.
Sneaky loved to sneak out in the evening and
wander in the woods looking for something to
eat.
Sneaky was a big raccoon and could see very
good in the dark. He loved to play and have
fun!
All the animals loved each other and spent
everyday playing together.

But there was one animal that did not like any
other animal. His name was Harry the Wolf!
Harry the Wolf was mean and scary! He had
big long ears, a big long nose, and big long
teeth!
Harry the Wolf would hide in the woods and
bushes trying to catch the animals.
All of the animals were very afraid of Harry!
