To Finnis, my best friend and brother.
-Adelaide

Once there was a little girl named Vivian. She was a spunky, kind-hearted girl with a mother, a father, an older brother, and a cat named Thomas. She had many friends. There was Jerry, the china doll, Sissy the toy train, Laura the elephant and Robin the bear.

One day when she was playing with her friends she heard an odd sound, as if there was a storm brewing right there in her house. So she went to investigate.

Boom. Boom. Rumble. Rumble.
Suddenly her older brother jumped out and scared her. She screamed, but then turned indignant. “Don’t scare me! It’s not funny!” She insisted as her brother began to laugh. She then promptly turned and stomped away. Angry as a raging bull.

BOO!!!
AHH!!!
Back in her hideout, she realized that one of her friends, Princess Lily, was missing. “Oh no!” She cried out. She frantically began searching her hideout, but Princess Lily was nowhere to be found. “Have you seen her?” She asked her friends.
“Not I,” said Sissy.
“Nope,” said Laura.
“Definitely not,” said Robin.
“What princess?” said Jerry.

Have you seen her?
Not I.
Nope.
Definitely not.
What princess?
And so they began to search. They searched the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom and even under the bed. But she was nowhere to be found. Finally the only place left to look was the basement.
“Not the basement!” said Sissy.
“Nope!” said Laura.
“Definitely not!” said Robin.
“Wait, what?” said Jerry.

Not the basement!
Wait, what?
Nope!
Definitely not!

And so they made their way towards the basement door. Creeping. Crawling. Camouflaging. Slowly making their way to the door.

Soon they approached a river. But this was no ordinary river. This was a lava river. But this didn’t bother Vivian. She simply hopped from rock to rock in the river, trying as best as she could not to fall off. Teeter-totter. Teeter-totter. Her companions followed her, faithful to the end.

Suddenly Vivian stopped, forcing her friends to stop abruptly behind her on the last rock. There were no more stones for her to jump to, and the river bank was to far away!
“What will we do?” cried Vivian. “We have to finish crossing the river to look for Princess Lily. But how? Do you have any ideas?” She said as she turned to face her friends.
“Not I,” said Sissy.
“Nope,” said Laura.
“Definitely not,” said Robin.
“Will someone please explain what we are doing in the first place?” said Jerry.

Then a bit of the rock broke off, forcing Vivian and her companions to get even closer together, for fear of falling off.
