SooHorang was chosen the animal mascot for the Olympics because it was closely associated with Korea mythology and culture. The white tiger was viewed as a guardian that helped protect the country and its people. The mascot's color also evokes its connection to the snow and ice winter sports.

Gear you need to have and wear are shoes called "sliders," you also need gloves, a suit, a helmet, and a luge sled.
