This Book is dedicated to my Popa, who now is in Heaven playing as much baseball as he wants. He loved the Earth and traveled almost every corner of it with my Nana. So this book will be in his honor. This book is also in my new puppy's honor, he is an explorer in the backyard and I bet he would love to explore the World.

Convection Currents
--A Convection current is the relationship cold and hot air has. The hotter air rises while the cold air sinks.
--This is caused from the density of the air. The more dense it will sink and vise versa.
--Convection currents are very important to the plate tectonic theory because it create movement. It creates movement in the Earth's Mantle.
Continental Drift
The Continental Drift was an idea of the Continents at one point in time all being one land mass. This theory was called Pangea and was created by Alfred Wegener. Scientists were very discouraged of this theory because there wasn't many experiments to say that is was 100% true.
1.Jig Saw--South America and Africa's coastline fit each other.
2. Mesosaurus--There are fossils that are found in one part of the World and the same ones on the other side.
3.Rock Deposits-- Coal and glacier deposits are found in places they aren't supposed to be formed.
4.Cape mountains -- The Cape mountains are found in South America and Africa, the exact ones.

Plate Tectonics
Plate Tectonics is the theory of there being the Lithosphere broken up into plates. They are broken up into Oceanic Plates and Continental Plates. Having these plates causes friction and tension to form with them. They can create valleys, a bigger sea floor, and a higher mountain range. There are three types of plates tensions and they are divergent, convergent ,and transform boundaries. All create different landscapes ,but shape the Earth.

Convergent Boundary
At a Convergent Boundary plates move by pushing up against each other, they Come together.

What is Formed?
At a Convergent Boundary Mountains on land or in the ocean are formed. Also at this boundary there are volcanoes and trenches.
Divergent Boundary
At a divergent boundary the plates move in a motion away from each other. They move away from each other and make the land or seafloor bigger.
Also spreading it
and making gaps
where the crust
meets the mantle.

What is Formed?
At a Divergent Boundary underneath the water there are two things, the Mid-Ocean Ridge and the sea floor spreading. With this comes new land that forms, new rock, and a bigger sea floor. On land these boundaries form bigger land and also valleys. As well as volcanoes.
