Introduction

Do you like pigs? Do you know a lot about pigs? Did you know that there is a pig called the Javan Pig? Well there is, and it is an endangered species! Another name for it is called the Javan Warty Pig, because the males have three pairs of warts on their face!

Names

This is the Sus Verrucosus. Better known as the Javan Pig, or the Javan Warty Pig. Its class is Mammalia.

Habitat and Range

The Javan Warty Pigs live only on a small part of the world. They live in Indonesia. Actually, they live on the islands of Java, Bawean, and Madura. The islands are like Tropical Forests, Lowland Grasslands, and Swamps, depending on where you are on the islands.

Body Structure

Javan Warty Pigs have short, slender legs, with big, round, long bodies. They weigh 44 to 108 kg and have a mane that runs down their neck and spine. Their fur is a reddish blackish color. They also have large heads and short necks for digging. They have a long snout, and can smell very well. They have small eyes, and not good eyesight. Lastly they have Long ears, and have a very good sense in hearing. They have Bilateral Symmetry.

Defense

Javan Warty pigs main defense is only on the males, it is three pairs of warts on their face. The warts protect their faces when they get in fights with each other and other animals. They move their ears back and tail up to tell how they feel while they are in fights.

Physical Adaptions

Javan Warty Pigs are good runners and usually are in places with cover because their biggest predators are humans, tigers, and leopards. Their mane going down their back goes up when they are alarmed. Their tail becomes curved when they are running away.
