I am Poem: Stronger than them
I am as quiet as little mouse
I wonder what people think about me
I hear mean things all around me
I see bullying in front of my eyes
I want it all to just stop
I am keeping everything inside of me
I pretend I can help and do something
I feel sorry for the kids that are being treated wrong
I worry about kids who aren’t strong enough to handle those rough comments
I cry when one of them just can not take it anymore
I am sorry for those bullies who have to live with what they did

I understand why those bullies lives are ruined
I say nothing when i should be saying “stop!”
I dream that everything will stop and everyone will get along
I try everything to get them to stop
I hope I can help people that are being bullied
I am bigger than those bullies

I am Poem response
In my I am poem i decided to write about how people get bullied and people could be helping but instead they stay back. I used a simile in my opening line and compare myself to a quiet little mouse. I also us imagery for when I say I see bullying in front of my eyes and people can also relate to that because they can also witness bullying in front of their eyes. I also use repetition with the word bullies because it is a word people can get emotional to or be sucked into the poem. I feel like my I am poem is the most powerful poem i have written. I am very proud about this poem because of the powerful meaning it has behind it.
Bio poem response
I wrote my bio poem about everything in life that I am thankful for and love dearly. I used imagery in my bio poem because the poem is about me and things I love and fear. My nephews are Ashton and Reagan, they are my step brothers’ sons. I live with Ashton and he is the sweetest thing ever. My friends are Olivia, Cookie, and my boyfriend Wyatt. They are always there for me and can always cheer me up. I have lived in Santee my whole life and have played softball since I was 7.
Bio Poem: Amazing me
Caitlin
Beautiful, shy, happy, athletic
Aunt of Ashton and Reagan
Lover of sleep, softball, and Wyatt
Who feels exhausted from school, thankful for friends, and excited for summer
Who needs love, happiness, friends, and family
Who gives everything they have on the field and in school
Who fears clowns, snakes, and being alone
Who would like to see Europe, the world, and Florida
Resident of Santee, California
Lewis

Re-Creation Poem: Softball
Children smile from ear to ear
Gloves laying on the cold dirt
Round yellow softballs sitting in a bucket
The kids say, “You can see my breath!”
As they wait for their early game to start
Parents walked underneath the trees
To go and sit on the cold bleachers
The games start early in the day
And could go until night
All the children play with heart
Smiles on their face while on the field
Parents cheering in the bleachers
As loud as they can yell

Re-creation poem response
In my Re-creation poem I wrote about softball. I used imagery and hyperbole. I used imagery because then the person reading it can picture what is going on in their head. I used hyperbole because it describes how happy the kids are to be there at their game. This re-creation poem used words from Gary Soto’s poem “Oranges”. I choose the most describing words and words that fit with my topic of softball. This is one of my favorite poems I wrote because it flows really well together.
Imitation poem response
My Lorca Imitation poem was about Anthony Brown and him being so tired while he is in Ms. Bachmann’s class at 10 in the morning. I used simile, imagery, and hyperbole. I used simile to compare Brown to a sloth. I used imagery for the readers to picture what he looks like while in class. I used hyperbole to over exaggerate how angry Ms. Bachmann gets at Anthony. Anthony Brown is super funny and can make the whole class laugh. Sidney Cook and I always make jokes with Brown about how he is always sleeping and on his phone. I also used repetition with saying at 10 in the morning to mimic the Lorca poem.
Imitation Poem: Sleeping like a sloth
At 10 in the morning
At 10 in the morning
Just a normal school day
At 10 in the morning
Brown walks in like a slow sloth
At 10 in the morning
He sits down with an exhausted look on his face
At 10 in the morning
Brown takes out his SSR book
At 10 in the morning
Eyes shut like doors

At 10 in the morning
Head slowly falling like a tree after being cut down
At 10 in the morning
Bachmann stares at Brown with her big eyes
At 10 in the morning
She yells at him like a Military commander
At 10 in the morning
Brown jolts up
At 10 in the morning
He sits straight up and down like tree
At 10 in the morning
At 10 in the morning Brown is like a sleepy sloth
At 10 in the morning

Definition Poem: That Great Feeling
Warmth: [wôrmTH], noun
enthusiasm, affection, or kindness
When he looks into my eyes
And my heart smiles from side to side;
Scoring tons of runs in a game
Winning the championship game;
Seeing someone suffering on the street
And giving them supplies to survive;
Buying gifts for people you care about
And receiving gifts unknown from the people you love

Definition poem response
My definition poem is about the word Warmth. I think about having the warm feeling inside when something good happens or you love someone so much. You just can’t help to smile when you get this feeling. I use personification to give my heart human feelings and emotions, like smiling. I also use hyperbole for when you score tons of runs to win a game, when is reality it’s only maybe 5 to 10 runs. This poem includes 4 different ways you can feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Ode Poem: Friends
Friends oh Friends you are so special
Whenever I need you, you are there
Wiping my tears away
Lighting up my days that are dark
Friends oh Friends you are amazing
You support me through everything
We are like a rollercoaster
We have our ups and downs
Our little laughs we have and jokes we share
Friends are the best to have around
