I dedicate this poem to my family and friends. My family will always be my side for as long as they can. I would not be here without them.
My friends have been awesome!!! They always laugh at my jokes and always know how to pick me up when I am feeling down.
I will always and forever love my family and friends.

Recreation Poem
Weighted down with metal
Beautiful, pearly whites,
Before me, then gone
Line of newly colored metal squares
Corners of my mouth,
Held by gloved fingers
The light so bright against my eyes
Knowing very well the lady’s eyes
Met mine to see if I was
Alright
I could not say anything until
She was finished
Highlighted words are form Gary Sotoś poem ¨ Oranges¨
Braces
My poem about Braces, which is my recreation poem, is about me getting braces. My experience with braces is same as everyone else, but I write about it as if it is the worst thing ever. The devices that I used in my poem are hyperbole and figurative language. The reason I chose to use these literary devices is because they were the easiest use when I first started my poems. As my poems keep coming, the literary devices are put into use more often.
Response to Recreation Poem
Oh Lasagna
You are filled with much enjoyment
With your wavy blankets from Barilla
And your juicy meats are filled completely with unhealthy goodness
But it’s okay Lasagna, because I will always want you
Your sauce slides down my throat like a child on a slide
Your cheese creates a cool craving for more
Ode To Lasagna
Ode Poem
Layer by Layer, you calm my rioting taste buds
You melt in my mouth like a Popsicle on a hot summer day
When you are finished baking in the heat, you look like a model
And the way you just rise from the pan
It’s as if you have superpowers
Oh Lasagna, you are my safe haven
My Ode to Lasagna Poem is about my love towards lasagna. I know, it's ridiculous, but I do love lasagna.
Lasagna is my favorite American food, and whoever invented lasagna, you are my most favorite person. The literary devices that I used in my ode to lasagna are alliteration, imagery, simile, metaphor, personification, assonance, and consonance. The reason I chose to use these literary devices in my poem is because they work in my poem. I now have a play on words that I can use in my poems as I'm writing them to make them sound more pleasing, and sometimes funny.

Limerick Poem
Chicks
Once upon a time there was a chick
That chick would stand on a bright red brick
She was a classic
For she was plastic
And she was part of the cool girls clique
My Limerick Poem is about this little baby chicken called a chick. This baby chick, from an early age, has learned that she is part of the "upper class" of chickens. That is why she is 'part of the cool girls clique.' This chicken refers to any of those ' cool girls' out there and how some of those girls end up being fake and 'plastic' by their middle ages. The literary devices I used in my Limerick poem are rhyme scheme and end rhyme. The reason I chose these literary devices is because they worked well with the poem and the structure the poem was in.
Response to Limerick Poem
I am a believer in unconditional love
I wonder sometimes, if others think the same
I hear the words, “I love you,” float around
I see love birds fly together always cooing for cuddles
I want the love my friends feel when their heart dances after seeing their spouse
Unconditional Love
I am a half of a heart, searching for its end
I pretend like I am a blooming flower, when I am really a withering maple
I feel as if nobody recognizes my beauty
I worry that I’ll pass and blow away like dust on a windy day
I Am Poem
I cry because I’ve waited for so long, and my love clock is not as strong
I am a soul with no sweet sensation of savor
I understand the concept of midnight calls and endurance
I say, “I wish that I could be a part of that everyday club.”
I dream every so often that I’m an advocate for unconditional love
I try very much to search and wait for the one
I hope that someday, my search will be done
I am a Lonely Soul who believes in Unconditional Love
Response to I Am Poem
I wrote my "I Am" poem about unconditional love because I feel as if everyone should love one another. I also wrote this poem about being single. I know, it's ridiculous but I seriously put my feelings in this poem. The literary devices I used in my poem are personification, alliteration, metaphor, and simile. The reason I used these literary devices is because I was trying make the reader feel what I feel. I know many people are not single and will not understand this poem, but for those of you who are single, I hope you appreciate this poem as much as I do.
Overmorrow, adverb, the day after tomorrow:
Overmorrow is what fly’s to me slowly
Overmorrow is dread on the day of Thursday
Overmorrow on a Thursday means women as
gossipy as church ladies
Overmorrow crashes into me like a running wave on a Saturday
Overmorrow
Definition Poem
Overmorrow makes me ecstatic on a Friday
For Sunday is as chill as the North Pole
On a Monday, overmorrow is Hump Day!
On Hump Day, overmorrow means last day of school for the week
Overmorrow makes me dread everyday besides Thursday
Response to Definition Poem
Overmorrow means the day after tomorrow. The reason I chose to pick this word for my definition poem is because I hear all of the time, "The day after tomorrow, " but their is a word for that phrase. Now when I talk about the day after tomorrow, I will say overmorrow. The literary devices I used in my poem are personification, and simile. The reason I chose to use these literary devices in my poem is because it was sort of difficult to use different types of literary devices in this poem. I had a hard time trying to use different devices but it was just nit working out very well.
