I Am Poem: Never Change
I am a believer in god
I wonder how people can be so selfish
I hear little voices in my head putting me down
I see my own less-confident self in my reflection
I want world peace and no world hunger
I am a caring, and loving person
I pretend as if children are not hurting
I feel sorrowful for those who are hurting
I worry about violence
I cry for those who have lost loved ones
I am here for those who need a helping hand
I understand what it takes to be brave
I say to those fighting, keep going strong
I dream of healthy children and people
I try to understand people who dislike me
I hope to see the world change for the better
I am who I am and will never change for anyone
I Am Poem: Never Change
Response:
-I wrote this poem this way because I wanted people to read how I felt about life and what my views on society and the world are.
-The specific poetic devices I used in my poem makes it have a particular meaning and tone.
-This poem is one of my favorites that I have written because it states certain things that I care about and things that I worry about. The poem has a lot of examples of what I want in the world. I have seen and read drastic stories and situations where it has hurt others and this poem shows my true emotions.
Bio Poem: My life
Response:
--I wrote my bio poem this way because the characteristics of myself make up who I am. My poem describes my best traits and certain things that I want or need in my life and future.
-The poetic devices I used in this poem makes it have a confident sounding tone and overall feel-good reading.
-I added specific details about where I wanna go and things I care about and what I´m scared of. I also added certain personality traits that people describe me as.

Re-Creation Poem: Blueberries
As I walked down a narrow aisle
The fog outside the window was like a roaring lion hungry for food
Inside it was cold as ice
Touched by the wind breeze from the vent
Saw the employee smiled as he walked towards me
When asked for help I said no thanks
Pulling the door open to the fruit
I picked Blueberries instead of those Oranges
I got in the prolonged line to pay
As I walked into the used car lot suddenly breathing heavy I collapsed.
Selected words are from Gary Soto’s poem “Oranges”
Re-creation poem: Blueberries
Response: I wrote my re-creation poem this way because I love blueberries and wanted the audience to get a feeling of how someone can eat a certain food but than get a deathly allergic reaction. The specific poetic devices I used in my poem was personification to set a feeling and have a more enjoyable poem to read. I also used certain words to create a sensitive and strong sounding of those words. There are selected words I used from a poem called Oranges by Gary Soto. I would never want to collapse after eating one of my favorite foods, so I added the collapsing in the parking lot to get a emotional tone in my poem.
Imitation Poem: Tumor
Response: I wrote my imitation poem about a tumor my dog had before he passed away because I wanted my readers to get the emotional feeling I had when I wrote this poem. The specific poetic devices I used in my poem were tone and personification to give the audience a certain tone when reading how my day went and how I was told the news. I also used repetition for the exact time it happened. I also used certain characteristics to intense the soundings of words used in the poem. He had a tumor in his brain that caused him to have many seizures and be super tired all the time. I miss him deeply and will never forget about him.
Imitation Poem: Tumor
At ten thirty-three in the morning.
It was at ten thirty-three in the morning.
That a girl walked in my class with a pink paper
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
My teacher handed me the crisp slip
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
The note came close to my eyes
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
My friend like a nosy cat trying to be pet asked if I was leaving
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
I knew then that something was wrong
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
Running up those steep stairs
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
To meet my dad in the office
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
Saw dad´s face turn troubled
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
As we got in the car I heard one of the worst news never
at ten thirty-three in the morning.
My scruffy was gone.
at ten thirty-three in the morning.

Definition poem: The IV
Worry: [wor-ry], verb, plural worries
Give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on troubles
When my vein was playing hide and go seek
As the doctor murmured to the nurse
Crying as I tensed up like a neck muscle
8 times jabbing in my arms
Gave up and rolled me into the bright but cold operation room
Masked up by laughing gas
As the doctor counted down 5,4,3,2,1
Fast asleep like a crying baby whining for hours
Definition Poem: The IV
Response: I wrote my definition poem this way because it helps the reader focus on the pain I went through during this memory in my brain. I wanted my readers to have a detailed but sensitive poem to read and that was my goal for this poem. I used certain poetic devices like personification to express my feelings and a simile to make the poem more enjoyable and interesting. This poem is based on a true event that happened to me recently when I was getting surgery on my chest wall. It was very painful and hard to go through all the blood tests but the IV was the worst part.
Limerick Poem: Unfortunate but funny
Response: I wrote my limerick poem this way because it presents certain words that I love like ¨candy¨ and my sister named ¨Sandy¨. My sister´s name is not actually sandy but I thought it would be a good way to use in my rhyming. The poetic devices I chose to use was end rhyme for the words at the end of each sentence. I wanted to use the last sentence as a surprising and action part of my poem. I do have a friend named Randy but I do not think he would ever slap me for any reason but it was a good rhyming name to use in my poem.
