Colonist in America no longer wanted to be part of Britain. Because King George was so mean the colonist decided not to be friends with him anymore. After a very long fight America won and became its own country.

King George was so mean that he made colonist pay a tax on tea. The colonist wanted it to stop so they stopped drinking tea. At the Boston Tea Party some colonist raided ships a spilled tea in the water.

When America was first discovered instead of states we had colonies. The colonies were on the east coast from Maine all the way to Georgia. All of the colonies were different but they all had the same dream for freedom.

The Declaration of Independence was a document that unfriended America and Britain. The document was sent to Britain and was adopted on July 4th. The first person to sign the document was John Hancock.

England also known Great Britain was controlling the colonies. King George was the ruler and had unfair taxes and rules. King George did not want to give up America but he had to after the war.

The French and Indian War was a battle that happened before the revolution. The French and Indians were fighting against British colonist and the British gained lots of land. Because the war cost so much money the colonist were mad and started the revolution.

King George was the king of England during the revolution. Because of King Georges unfair taxes and unfair rules the colonist rebelled. King George tried as hard as he could to keep the colonies for money.

John Hancock was the president of congress the the declaration of independence was signed. Hancock was the first member to sign the declaration. He is well known for his big signature across the page.

Independence is when a nation controls themselves and has their own government. After the colonies were settled they wanted more than religious freedom.That is why we had a revolution to fight for our freedom.

Thomas Jefferson was a founding father and was the 3rd president of the United States. Jefferson was also an inventor and an ambassador to France. While president he purchased land out west, called the Louisiana Purchase.

During the battle the british were coming in through the south. He split his forces sending major Ferguson to Kings Mountain. During this he went to Guilford court house. Major Ferguson was then killed, he then was buried at Kings Mountain.

is for Loyalist

Loyalist are colonist who were loyal to the crown of England. These colonist were treated poorly by the Patriots in the colony. Loyalist made up about one-third of the population.

is for Minutemen

The minutemen were civilians who joined together to create a force against Britain. They had weapons and came up with lots of tactics. The minutemen were also always ready and could be ready at any time.

is for Navy

At this time the United States navy was nothing compared to today.The patriot John Paul Jones formed what we know as our fist navy. He captured various ships and helped us gain our freedom.

Before the war the colonist were oppressed over demanding taxes from King George. Many colonist lived in poverty and poor conditions in both the farm lands and the cities. This changed after the war when we finally had independence.

The patriots of the revolution were colonist who opposed the British Government. They were also known as rebels and continentals. Patriots made up the majority of the colonies.
