This story is dedicated to Nellie's family on mars.

Once upon a time, an alien named Nellie roamed the galaxy.

Nellie was born in America but hopped on her rocket ship and moved to Mars soon after she was born.

One day, she landed her rocket ship on Earth and decided to return home to America.

Nellie always saw the president on TV and decided that she wanted to be the first alien President of the United States.

So she waited...

And waited...

And waited...

Until she had been an American citizen for 14 years.
Nellie was now ready to start her campaign for president.

With three years until the election, Nellie recruited her good friend Pimblokto to manage her campaign. Together they decided that they wanted to use a positive campaign strategy and target their campaign towards minorities in America.
As the first alien to ever run for President, Nellie's name was all over the news.

Nellie:
First Alien Candidate

Nellie traveled all over the country to make sure that all potential voters knew who she was.

During their travels, Nellie and Pimblokto recruited people to join their team and help the campaign. They also set up fundraisers to get money for their campaign.

Unfortunately, Nellie had some competition. She had to beat the other candidate in her party, Jerry, in the primary election in order to get the presidential nomination.

For three months Nellie campaigned all over the country and now she was ready for the nation to vote.
In the states that had open primaries, voters could vote for any candidate, and in states that had closed primaries, voters had to be registered for Nellie's party for vote for her.

It was now time for the Iowa Caucus. A caucus is when citizens openly gather and discuss the candidates, then vote.

By June the primaries were over and Nellie had won! Nellie was now officially a candidate for the President of the United States.
Nellie got delegates from each of the 35 states that she won to represent her at the National Convention.
California - 55
Pennsylvania - 20
New York - 29
Wisconsin - 10
Colorado - 9

It was now July: time for the National Convention!
The National Convention is where Nellie officially announced her nomination and rallied support of the voters in her party.

This is also where Nellie announced her Vice President, Joan. Joan would be the perfect partner to "balance the ticket" as she had experience working in the government and a more fiery personality then Nellie.
