Early childhood educators make an ethical commitment to create and maintain a supportive, trusting, and positive environment in which children can flourish. Every child is wonderfully unique and is capable of amazing things. Early childhood educators appreciate the talents that each child brings to the classroom as well as the cultural differences of their families. They guide children through an important stage in their development using proven methods and continually strive to expand their knowledge as to be effective doing so. With an emphasis on ethical conduct toward children, families, coworkers and their communities, educators build a solid foundation for future generations to do incredible things.
Ethical Responsibilities to
Children

Early Childhood Educators will:
-Strive to stay up-to-date with the latest and most effective teaching methods.
-Recognize and nurture each child's potential, regardless of cultural background, disability, or family affiliations.
-Create an environment that fosters healthy cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physical development.
-Be observant of and responsible for reporting signs of child neglect or abuse.
-Advocate for the well-being of all children and their right to quality and inclusive education.
Early Childhood Educators will:
-Develop mutually trusting relationships with the families they serve.
-Encourage participation and involvement in the classroom as well as with decision making.
-Support families as they support their children by providing them with community resources.
-Respect cultural differences of families and strive to learn about the unique characteristics of each.
-Respect a family's right to privacy and confidentiality as long as a child's welfare is not at risk.
