All About Allah
Allah translates to God in Arabic. In the religion Islam God is called Allah, he is called this because that is how he supposedly identified himself. Muslims believe in monotheism; the belief in only one god. Muslims believe that God is the creator of the universe, therefore they must worship him. The Arabic language is very important to Muslims, this is because Arabic is said to be the original language that Allah spoke.
Muhammad and his Calling
In Islam they believe that Allah sent a prophet named Muhammad down to Earth to show people how to live. It is said that an angel was used as a messenger to deliver messages from Allah to Muhammad. Muhammad was a merchant from Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Muhammad married his wife Khadijah at 25 years old. Muhammad was concerned about what was going on in Makkah, the rich people were taking advantage of the poor people.
Muhammad did not like what was going on in Makkah, so he decided to venture outside of Makkah so that he could reflect. When Muhammad was reflecting in a cave on Mount Hira the angel Gabriel appeared to him and told him that he is to be Allah's messenger. Muhammad listened to Allah and became a prophet; someone who spreads Allah's will. He started by preaching to the people that lived in Makkah and then he traveled to Medinah to try to convince the people of their wrong doings, he ended up staying there.

The First Pillar: Shahadah- the profession of faith
" I witness that there is no other God but Allah, and Muhammad is the prophet of Allah."
This pillar is a very big part of the Muslim faith, when you say this you are devoting yourself Allah and only him. You also saying that you believe in him and his prophet Muhammad.
The Second Pillar: Salah- prayer five times a day
The importance of this pillar is to build a relationship with Allah. Another reason why this pillar is important is because every prayer brings them a step closer to Mecca; heaven.
