This book is dedicated to Fiona, the coolest cat I know. This book is also based on a true story of what I think happened in my cat's past.

Prologue
One little kitten slid out from the brown female cat. "I think it's over," The cat said, panting. A ginger male cat was sitting beside her, his eyes filled with love. "Great job," He mumbled happily, staring down at the kitten. The tiny thing was brown with some black stripes, and a ginger belly. "She looks just like you, except for the ginger belly. That's probably from me," The ginger cat said quietly. "Hello, little kitten," Said the brown cat. "I am your mother. That ginger cat is your father."
Chapter 1
I blinked open my eyes. "Mother? Father? Where are you?" I called softly. I called the same thing a bit louder. No one answered. I didn't care that much. I would find them one day. I looked around. It looked like I was in a forest. It was very shady. I ran over to a creek for a drink. I was SO thirsty! It was then when I also realized how hungry I was. I looked around for something to eat. I saw some tiny red things hanging from a branch. I looked around again, and I saw that there were more red things on some bushes, too. I wondered if I could eat them. I padded up to
one and sniffed it. It smelled good. And it looked juicy, too. My mouth was starting to water! I just couldn't resist. I clamped my jaws around one of the red things and tugged it off the branch. I started to chew it. Strong, yummy flavor spread through my mouth. I needed more! I ran over to the bush and started to pick more red things. I went to a lot of bushes. I ate most of my food. Then I realized I shouldn't just waste the rest of my food. I should save it somehow! I gazed around. I should tie the rest of the red things in a leaf and carry the wrap around, I thought. So I went over to a maple tree, grabbed one of the green leaves, went over to my food, and
tied the food in a leaf. I hope those weren't poisonous, I mused. I wandered around with the leaf clamped firmly in my jaws. I saw bright sunlight coming from one end of the forest. Maybe that's a way out of this gloomy forest! I raced over to the light. I saw an exit! I bounded out of the forest. I was out! Now it was time to look for someone to take care of me, like a parent. Maybe I could even find my real parents! I gazed around, my green eyes shining. In front of me was a big black path with a yellow line in the middle. I wondered what it was for. I looked on both sides to make sure nothing was coming my way, and then I saw it. A big, red, shimmery box with big, black,
spinning circles with weird things inside it came rushing toward me. I jumped backwards, terrified. As it came closer, I leaped onto the ground and curled up with my tail wrapped protectively over my nose. I shut my eyes closed tight. I felt the big monster thunder past me. After I couldn't feel it's thundering anymore, I shakily rose to my paws. I made sure no more monsters were coming, and I raced across the black path with my eyes squinting. This path was hard and rocky. It hurt my pads. Finally, I felt soft grass beneath my painful paws. That made them feel a little bit better. I collapsed into the lush grass, feeling exhausted and scared. I hoped I didn't have to the same stuff tomorrow. I looked up at
the sky. The sun was starting to go down. I licked my paws a few times before falling into a deep sleep.
Chapter 2
Birdsong woke me up. Today was another day of journeying. I sighed. I'd better eat some food. I padded sleepily over to where I had left my leaf wrap. I ate a few of the red things. That would probably give me enough energy for the day. And if I got hungry, I could just eat more. I lifted up the leaf wrap and looked around to see where I'd be going next. I definitely didn't want to cross the black path again. I wondered if I could just follow the path and it would take me somewhere. I decided today I would follow the path. I needed to make a name for that path! How about... the Thunderpath! Because it's a path that monsters come thundering down on! I started to walk, the leaf wrap clamped in my jaws. Soon I saw
another forest, like the one I had woken up in yesterday. I saw a path that led inside, so I followed it. There were even more of the red things on these bushes! Seeing the red things made my belly growl. My belly thinks my throat's been clawed out! I decided to find somewhere to rest for the night and eat the rest of my food there. I looked around the big forest. Trees, more trees, trees, more trees, ooh! An open space with more trees for shelter. I bounded off the thin path and into the undergrowth. Then I reached the space and looked around for a good place to make a moss nest. There was a good, soft, space under a tree. I decided I would shelter there for the night. I went back into the undergrowth to get moss. Then I saw a great big clump
of the stuff on an oak tree. I scratched it off the tree with my forepaw, and I brought it back to the space. I picked up my leaf wrap and brought it over to my nest. I sat down in the comfy moss and ate my food. Once I was done eating the red things, I curled up with my tail hanging over my nose and slowly drifted of to sleep.
weird things made of stone. I looked inside a white one, and those weird things that I had saw inside the monster were in the white stone thing. As I gazed around after examining those weird moving things, I saw more of the stone things. They were all different colours! But they were mostly red, white, black, and brown. I scampered up to the closest one to me, which was red, and peered inside. Those moving things that were in the monster were inside the red stone thing again. I hope they don't see me. I could get harmed by those things! After having that thought, a shudder ran through my body. I didn't want to go close to those weird things anymore! I padded behind the red stone
Chapter 3
Sunlight poured out from between the trees and into my nest. I sleepily blinked open my eyes. My eye vision was very blurry. "What? Mother? Father? Are you there?" I whispered sleepily. I blinked a few more times to clear out my vision, and shook my head. Then I remembered what had happened and why I was here. I got up slowly and looked around for food. I quickly shook out my fur. Ooh, there was a big bush with lots and lots of food on it! I padded over to it and tugged a bunch of red things off. I tied them up in the leaf after eating a few. A bounded over to a creek close to my nest and lapped up some water. I opened my mouth, drinking in any fox, badger, or cat scents. I smelled two cats. One had a
kind of milky, sweet, forest scent, so I thought it was probably a female, and the other cat smelled a lot like the female, but it's main scent was forest scent, so I thought it was probably a male. I followed their scent trail. It lead down the path, and then when the path turned, the scent trail kept going straight and off the path. It led out of the forest! Once I was out of the forest, I was felt soft stuff under my paws. I looked down, and saw a kind of gingery brown dirt. I knew what this was! Sand! As I started to turn my head up, I felt a cat's gaze burning my pelt. I jerked my head up and looked for the cat. Then I saw who's scent trail I was probably following! Standing beside me, there was a brown cat with green eyes, who looked a lot like me, with
the almost faded black stripes, and a ginger cat, the exact same colour as my belly, with a piercing amber gaze. When I saw them, I said: "Who are you?" "I am Stick," The brown cat replied, "And this is Sand," She said, flicking her tail at the ginger cat. "What's your name?" Then I just realized I didn't have a name! "Um... I don't have one," I replied. "Well, we could give you one," Sand said happily. "Hmm, let me think... How about Whiskers?!" "Sure! That's a cool name!" Whiskers exclaimed. "Now Whiskers, will you excuse us for a moment? We need to have a private chat together," Stick explained politely. "That's fine with me," Whiskers said. Sand nodded thanks and padded away with Stick. Whiskers guessed that they were mates. The brown she-
cat pricked her ears to listen to what Stick and Sand were saying. She didn't hear all of it, but this what she caught: "Our kitten" And "You really think that?" Stick padded back over to Whiskers with Sand behind her. "Whiskers," Stick began, her eyes filled with happiness and love, "Me and Sand think we have found something out. But first I need to ask you one question: Do you know who your parents are?" "Um, n-no," Whiskers stammered. Right after Whiskers said that, both pairs of eyes lit up and filled all the way up with joy. Sand started to bounce up and down, while Stick covered Whiskers with fierce licks. Whiskers was bewildered. "Um, why are you doing this?" She asked. "Whiskers dear, you are our kitten!!!😁" Stick replied very joyfully. Whiskers was very stunned but her
heart was filled right to the brim with joy! Sand scampered over to Whiskers and also started licking her. Whiskers nuzzled both their cheeks, and as she did that, she thought nothing in the world could ever make happier than being with Stick and Sand. And as they went to sleep, they were huddled together as a family.
Chapter 4
Whiskers, Sand, and Stick all woke up to find sunlight pouring down on them. Today was going to be the first full day with them together! Sand went over to Whiskers and nuzzled her cheek with his muzzle. Whiskers replied with a lick. Stick got up and shook out her fur. "Today is a day of journeying to find a home!" She declared. "Whiskers, I see that you've brought some food here. Can we all have some?" "Sure, mother," I replied. "Thank you, Whiskers. Now lets dig in!" Whiskers burst out a mrroww of laughter and got the leaf wrap and gingerly dropped it in the sand in front of Stick. Sand heard it drop on the ground and he ran over to sit beside Stick and eat. I bounded over to Stick's other side
and sat down. Sand reached out his front paws and untied the leaf. We each bent down and took a few red things and started to chew. Once we were all done, Sand jumped to his paws and shouted, "Lets go follow the Thunderpath!" Stick laughed and we all went back into the forest.
*
When we got out of the forest we found the Thunderpath and started to walk down it. "Don't get to close, or a monster might run you over!" Stick exclaimed. They passed those stone things that the moving things lived inside, they passed big open fields, lakes, and a lot more! I thought I would never be sad again with my parents here.
Chapter 5
I had grown older. I had traveled with my parents for years now! I was very happy, and so were Stick and Sand. They taught me lots of stuff. Those weird moving things were called Twolegs, and they were actual animals, and the stone things that they lived in were Twoleg dens, and those red things they were eating were called berries, and they were food that a lot of animals eat. I was very, very, very happy journeying with them. But one day, this happened: It was nighttime, and we were sleeping by a big brown Twoleg den with very big red monsters in front of it. As we were drifting into dreams, I heard a screech. We all jerked up. I gazed around and saw a Twoleg staring at us. The Twoleg was
