Chapter one
Aunt Faye was very very ill. 'Dad and I have to stay with her for a for days,' said Mum. 'Grandma will come and mind you,' said Dad.
We have teo grandmas.
'Which grandma?' I asked. 'The fast one,' Dad said, smiling. Fast Grandma came by fast plane because she lives a long from our house. Grandma always brings us presents. This time she gave my little brother Matthew a book about racing cars. Then she gave me a big magnifying glass. 'Now you can watch ants,
Evie,' she said. I like watching ants. They move so fast, they remind me of Grandma. After Mum and Dad had
gone to visit Aunt Faye, Grandma looked in the pantry and the fridge.
She sighed. 'We have to go shopping,' she said. 'I hate shopping,' I said. 'So do I,' said Grandma. 'That's why I do fast food.'
Chapter Two
We arrived at the supermarket, and grandma grabbed a trolley.
'What do you like to eat, Evie?' she asked me. 'Hamburgers and sausages,' I said. 'With
tonnes of tomato sauce.' 'What do you like to eat, Matthew?' Grandma asked my brother.
'Party pies, cheese, and noodles,' Matthew told her. 'What about vegetables?' Grandma asked.
'Mum says we are like traffic light,' I said . 'We won't stop to red vegetables or go on to eat green vegetables.' Grandma looked at us sternly. 'Red and green vegetables give you energy. You should try some. ' 'No thanks,' we said. 'The traffic light between red and green is yellow. I'll buy yellow vegetables, then.
You're sure to like those. Ready, set - go!' Grandma took off like a fox with its tail on fire.
She threw a squash, some sweet potatoes and a pumpkin into trolley. And dome other stuff.
As we lined up lined up at the Check-out, Grandma looked at her watch. 'Ten minutes,' she said. 'Next time we'll go faster.' This was food, for sure!
Chapter three
'What will we do this afternoon?' asked Matthew, spooning up the last of his yellow vegetable soup. Grandma was eating red and green vegetables. 'We'll go climbing,' she said.
After lunch, Grandma drove us to an indoor place where there was a huge
rock. We had to climb it, and then slide down on a rope.
Most of the other grandmas (and some frandpas) sat around reading books, drinking cups of tea and minding the bags. But not our grandma. She aced up the rock like a rocket. Up and down, up and down, about a zillion times. 'You're fast,' a teenager told her. 'Have you got suction pads on your hands and feet?'
'No,' said Grandma. 'I eat red and green vegetables.' 'How embarrassing!'I whispered to Matthew.
Chapter Four
The next day Grandma drove us to the zoo. 'What's your favourite animal, Evie?' she asked me. 'A giraffe.' Grandma nodded. 'Tall, like you.'
We found the giraffe enclosure. The keeper helped us feed the tallest giraffe some tasty leaves. I got a sore neck
from looking up so high. 'What's your favourite animal?' Grandma asked Matthew.
'A lion,' roared Matthew. Grandma smiled. 'Noisy, like you.' We found the lion enclosure. We saw the lions
lazing in the sun. Matthew roared very loudly, but they ignored him. 'Now I've got a sore throat,' he said crossly.
'Hurry up. need to see every animal before we leave,' said Grandma. 'Grandma, what's your favourite animal?' I puffed as we raced around the zoo. 'The hairy armadillo.' We went to look at the hairy armadillo. It was like a giant salter beetle with four legs. It ran round and round in circles.
'Fast, like you,' I said to Grandma. 'What does it eat?' asked Matthew hoarsely. I know the answer even before Grandma said it. 'Red and green vegetables.'
The next day Grandma drogue us to a huge water park on the edge of town. I looked around. There were lots of parents. There were grandmas and some Grandpas, too. Most of
them were reading books, drinking cups of tea and minding the bags. 'Why can't out grandma
be like the other?' I said to Matthew, as Grandma tore out of the changing-room in her swimsuit.
'What do you mean?'asked Matthew. 'Why can't she just read a book, drink cups of tea and mind the bags?' 'Because she's fast grandma,' said Matthew. 'Come on,' Grandma yelled from the top of the giant water slide. 'Hurry up!' We climbed the steps. Grandma went down
the slide like a bullet. She made her own water waver. Matthew looked at me. 'How embarrassing,' he said.
Chapter six
We went up and down the giant water slide at least twenty times. Then we went into the Pirate's Castle. Matthew and I got with water cannons. Grandma was too quick for them.
An enormous bucket of water was dumped on us. Again Grandma was too fast to get caught. We rode on the Rapid River, round and round. Then we went on the keyaks. We paddled across the lake and back again. Matthew and I were tired. 'Can have lunch now?' I asked. 'We have one more thing
to do first,' said Grandma. We lined up for the Tunnel of Terror. The man gave us a tube
shaped like a figure eight. We climbed the steep steps to the top of the tunnel. I sat at the front of
the tube. Grandma and Matthew were at the back. I was terrified. I shut my eyes.
We twisted and turned very fast through the Tunnel of Terror. 'Whee!' yelled Grandma
