I used to think that Objectives were just a standard...
...But now I think that Objectives are intended for the student to see what they should learn.
I used to think nothing about Blooms Taxonomy because I'd never heard of it....
....But now I think Blooms Taxonomy is a tool that I as the teacher as well as the student can use to develop a deeper understanding of standards and material.
I used to think that Visible Thinking was merely thinking out loud...
...But now I think that Visible Thinking is a strategy which supports students in developing thinking skills, and that thinking is something that can and should be taught.
I used to think that ISTE's were extremely complicated wordy statements I would only find at the beginning of graduate level technology courses and it was unnecessary to learn anything about them because I would never use them myself....
...But now I think that my knowledge of ISTE's will be necessary when implementing such tools as Flipgrid or YouTube in my classroom.
I used to think Assessment was something that was just done at the end of the quarter or semester...
...But now I think Assessment is something that happens daily, whether it be formative or summative.
I used to think that Lesson Plan Procedures were stated purely for aesthetics...
...But now I think that Lesson Plan Procedures can be used as a guide to support my understanding of all the elements required for the lesson, saving me extra time and confusion.
I used to think Google Productivity Tools were tools used by those only in the business world...
...But now I think Google Productivity tools are extremely useful for so many things in the classroom and I have already begun using them for warm up activities, quizzes, surveys and rubrics.
I used to think Concept Mapping was extremely complicated teacher jargon...
...But now I think Concept Mapping is another tool to show how thinking evolves for students.
