Jackie Robinson was born January 31st, 1919,
in Cairo Georgia. His mom and dad were Jerry
and Willa Robinson. Jackie's family wasn't the
richest of families but his parents tried their
best to let him have a happy life. In 1920 his
father left them and they moved to Pasadena,
California.

As a child Jackie Robinson played three sports,
Baseball, Basketball and he ran track. He was
an athletic kid who liked to play every sport.
living in poverty he was convinced to join a
gang but his friends persuaded him in leaving
it. Playing sports was his way of escaping the
real world.

In 1935 Jackie attended Muir Tech High
School. His brother Mack and frank both great
athletes recognized that he was a great athlete
and should pursue his athletic abilities. He
listened to them and joined baseball, football,
basketball, tennis and he even ran track. Also
beside being a great athlete he was a smart
kid.

After Muir, Jackie attended Pasadena Junior
College or PJC. At PJC he continued his athletic
career by participating in basketball, football,
baseball, and track but dropped playing tennis.
While Jackie was attending PJC his closet
brother, Frank, Died in a motorcycle accident.
After this Jackie was sadder then a mother
who lost her son and actually stopped playing
sports for awhile.

After Graduating PJC he transferred to UCLA to
pursue hes dreams in sports. At UCLA he
became the first athlete at the school to get
four varsity letters. Belying his future career,
baseball was Jackie worst sport at UCLA, he hit
.097 in his only season, although in his first
game he went 4-for-4 and stole home twice.
While a senior at UCLA he met his future wife
Rachel Isum.

After signing with the Kansas City Monarchs
and making $400 a month which is $5,164 in
today's money. What's weird is that even
though he played really well the Monarchs
were unhappy with the way he played like it
was collage. During his time with the Monarchs
he hit .387, hit five home runs and stole 13
bases. Some people say he was faster than a
cheetah.
